I've got some Space Crusage/Hulk mini's I painted before I knew better in Humbrol enamel. I'm wanting to strip them and repaint them. I've been told DOT 3 brake fluid.

I'm a little cautious to melt my oldest mini's, so I have a few questions.

1) is DOT 4 going to work? I can't find DOT 3 for love nor money and a mechanic friend of mine says they are chemically the same thing. Is it safe to use?

2) Is it acetone speed or is it Dettol speed? Must I dip and scrub or soak over night/days?

3) does anyone have any other suggestions?

Methylated spirit or denatured alcohol (purple stuff)

Will strip enamel and be safe on plastic just dont leave it over night, should work in lake 10 minutes with scrubbing with a toothbrush

I would try some Simple Green. It's completely safe on metals and the black plastic bases. I haven't tried this on the normal grey plastic and I don't know if the black plastic bases are the same type, but I accidentally forgot an entire squad of half-painted kasrkin on bases in a tub of Simple Green for 3 years. They came out fine to my eyes when I rediscovered them a month back. Of course, all the glue had become soft and rubbery and the paint had fallen off and settled to the bottom in a sort of sludge. xD Had to scrub it off the bases since it had caked on after settling, but it came off easy enough. I don't know if this is related or not since I had bought them as was, but the models came out a dull grey color. Kind of looked like an older high lead content metal. I haven't done anything more with them, so I can take some pics if someone thinks they can tell me why they look so different from the normal white metal models.

The minis I have are the colored plastic from Space Crusade.

I can't find simple green here although we do have a similar product called Clean Green I could try.

I also left s squad of pladruc Storm Troopers in Dettol for years and it made the plastic a touch brittle. I broke the socks off quite a few of their lasguns but overall they came out OK.
