I recently got a textured rolling pin from Greenstuff world and wanted to share some images about them, as I think they are a pretty cool tool for some cheap basing etc:

The procedure is pretty simple:

Step 1: roll out a bit of cheap modelling clay. You can smoothen the surface with a bit of moisture and the packaging cylinder of the pin
Step 2: roll the pin with a bit of pressure
Step 3: use the packaging cylinder to punch out a ~25mm base

It took me a couple of tries until I got the moisture of the clay right, but from there it's pretty easy and fast.

Here are some impressions of the results:

I will post again, when they are dry, primed and painted up.

It does look nice, and thanks for the step by step. Very intriguing.

Keeping the hobby side alive!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage.

So, here are the results after painting:

As you can easily see I went for a very bright and colorful look like it could be found on a temple floor. Also a great opportunity to test, play around and learn with contrast colors. My favorites are the two guys facing each other in the upper left corner.
