So I'm currently working on improving my modelling game, particularly when it comes to vehicles. I recently discovered a helpful Youtube channel which has some great tips for improving detail on models.
A rough summary of how this guy achieves his texturing is to apply a mix of liquid cement and putty and then working on it in various ways to achieve the desired result. All well and good when working on plastic. However, I am in part trying to get better with my building in order to do justice to some Forge World resin models, and I am fairly certain that liquid cement is useless on that kind of material.
I was wondering if anybody had any experience/suggestions as to what alternatives I could look into using. Advice would be greatly appreciated.

You could try stippling with watered down liquid greenstuff on the resin

I am a bit of a Night Shift fan myself so I have seen what you are talking about! From what I remember he used a plastic cement-soluble putty in order to achieve the affect in some cases. If ytou were to apply a soluble putty over resin I think you could achieve a similar result, though you would probably need a heavier layer of putty. Personally, I'd want to do the above rather than try to use liquid green stuff, purely because you should be able to work the affect back and tone it down in a more controlled way. That being said liquid greenstuff could also be a good option.

There’s always Mr Surfacer. It’s available in three different grades and has a similar effect and use in texturing but I’m not sure if it’s “safe” to use on resin models.

Ah okay, I'll look into Mr Surfacer and using green stuff. I'm sure I have enough bits of plastic lying around to experiment with them. Thanks for the suggestions

Liquid green stuff is pretty useless so I wouldn’t even bother.
Your best option for cast texture on resin is going to be Mr Surfacer 500 or 1000.
