I've taken a couple of years break from modelling and playing after selling all my models due to my work and studies. I have kept an eye on the hobby the whole time, and now with 9th on the way I am looking at starting up again with an Adeptus Custodes list and making the most of the massive increase in command points to use all those cool
AC stratagems.
I've started off with roughly 1500 points list, and I don't want it to be super competitive but able to hold its own at a
FLGS. The aim is for this list to provide a solid base to scale up to larger points games and also be able to be scaled down.
Any and all feedback would be appreciated, and as I haven't purchased anything yet don't be afraid of suggesting massive changes to the list
Adeptus Custodes Battalion Detachment:
HQ
Captain General Trajaan Valoris - 180
Shield Captain on Dawneagle Jetbike
(Warlord, Superior Creation, Auric Aquilis, Victor of the Blood Games) - 160
Troops
Custodian Guard Squad
(2 x Sentinel Blade + Misericordia, 1 x Storm Shield and Sword) - 156
Sagittarum Custodians
(3 x Adrastus Bolt Caliver and Misericordia) - 159
Sagittarum Custodians
(3 x Adrastus Bolt Caliver and Misericordia) - 159
Elites
Contemptor-Achillius Dreadnought
(2 x Twin Adrathic Destructor) - 289
Vexillus Praetor
(Guardian Spear, Vexilla Magnifica) - 119
Fast Attack
Vertus Praetors
(4 x Vertus Praetors with Hurricane Bolters) - 360
Total - 1454
My plan is to use the bikes and the dreadnought aggressively and to put in some early damage, and grab any objectives and then use the Sagittarum to hold the back field with the re rolls and Vexilla protection.
I'm not entirely convinced that the vexilla is that useful in this list as it isn't protecting the expensive heavy hitters, but when I scale up I'm sure I will have use for one. I have the spare points that I could lose the Vexilla and include another dreadnought or another shield captain on dawneagle jetbike
Another thing is whether to take more anti-armour in the form of Salvo Launchers on the Shield Captain - especially if we will be seeing more armour in 9th?
And then finally I am not sure as to whether the spear dreadnought is the better choice over the sword and board dreadnought - but I prefer the spear model and it seems to solve the anti-armour problem a little better.
Thanks in advance for the feedback
