First impressions

Getting all 8ed codexes upon subscription is good however this must be an indication that GW is replacing them fairly quick cos it’s not like them to give stuff away

Still have to buy future codexes to get em in the app so 3.99 a month is to get updates

What about PA rules etc - still annoyed that nor my EC army I need about £80 worth of books

Get their version of battle scribe. Is that worth 3.99

I feel
Like there should be something else on offer. For example if I bought the CSM codex I should get the PA rules for free as released. Not the book and the story but new rules and strategies in these books should be included

I thought they said the subscription includes all the 8th Ed codexes and the supplants, I assumed that means the vigilus books and PA books. On second thought, it might just be the space marine chapter supplements.

It's GW doing what they do best. Tarting up a product that's not as polished as it could be, partly incomplete, a little late and charging you more for things you either don't want/need/already own.

Touting something as as a paid feature (8th books) that will diminish over time, so the product is literally worth less as time goes on...

it's a hard no from me.

I'd (maybe) sub to it if you got all 9th rules from now till forever on it for the monthly fee... Don't see how its not probably commercially viable for them either, i don't spend nearly £60 a year on books, they'd be getting more money out of me.

Yeah its a hard no.

Pay £50 a year and just get all current and future codexes? Sure. Whether its worth the trade off on selling these books I don't know - but thats what market research is for. Intuitively I doubt most players are buying 3 books a year.

But the idea of paying £4 a month to essentially just use GW's battlescribe and access your rules on another platform is flat out crazy. But I guess they might as well try these things.

I am ok with paying small increments for the army builder and all rules as a combo. But having to pay book price to keep up on the rules is sad. The thing that keeps me out of AoS is not having full army building and synergy rules available without buying books, and I can't stand the trap card kind of play that is not knowing your opponents stratagems because you don't own and memorize their 3 codexes and two PAs and chapter supplement and forgeworld bull.

As said above all datasheets, strats, WL traits, artifacts, tactics as part of the app and all is fine.

Yeah,i cant think of any reason why this is better then battlescribe and using the free version.

These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

If the App is functional like the AoS ones, I have no problem paying a subscription for it, since it'll be a one stop shop for everything I need on my phone.

The AoS one is super easy to use and I like it a lot. BattleScribe is pretty clunky, so if it's better than BS I don't mind paying for it.

War Room is free and lets you buy the faction deck once and its free and updated for the whole edition.

Malifaux's app is free and has all the rule and cards for all factions for free.

GW can shove their app up a Nurgle daemon if they think I'm going to pay a monthly fee AND still have to buy a codex.

Any one who thinks they won't follow the D&D Beyond model is smoking high grade crack. Each supplement will be full store cost, each function will be pay walled, there will be no free 9th materials. I am betting BRB will still be full price.

Hello paid subscription model 40k, you don't even get the pretty pictures. You just get the rules for the app.
