Now that there are multiple kinds of cover,
What kind of cover do spells like "Storm Caller" and abilities like Gloomwake provide ?
Does the 9th BRB have a generic rule for "cover" that I missed or does it look like there are just the multiple kinds ?
Or is this another waiting for the FAQs to drop situation ?

This message was edited 1 time. Last update was at 2020/07/13 00:31:23

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.

RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW.

Maybe wait until those specific rules come out to see if they are worded differently?

The Book has a "Rare rules" section, this is covered in that section.

It just ignores light cover

same section also deals with "Does not benefit from Cover" which only affects Dense, Light, and Heavy; but not obscuring.

This is my Rulebook. There are many Like it, but this one is mine. Without me, my rulebook is useless. Without my rulebook, I am useless.
Stop looking for buzz words and start reading the whole sentences.

Because that may not be the final version post FAQ?

Things change...

P.S. The Space Wolf codex will get an update or FAQ, so powers like "Storm Caller" from the Tempestas Discipline, and other abilities may be worded differently, and that has definitely not been leaked.

Thanks, I will look there .

Because individual army special things that now work odd/not under 9th edition will be covered in a faq for each army and not in the Rulebook?

Yup, I got my answer where Kommissar Kel told me to look ...thank you.

Not in the FAQ ...

still confused why the response to a question of "is this in the leaked rule book?" was "THE FAQ AND RULE BOOK ISNT OUT YET"

... I am aware... hence the question.

Thanks for the insights though.

Who asked "is this in the leaked rule book?"?

The OP did not mention that question

I wasn't referring to a mythical BRB sent from the future. I was clearly referring to the leaked one... you must be joking right ? Are you seriously going to claim you didnt know what I meant in my OP. Are you seriously going to claim that OP was referring to a magical book sent from the future ?

What does that have anything to do with "Does the 9th BRB have a generic rule for "cover" that I missed or does it look like there are just the multiple kinds ?"
Stop strawmaning and learn to read the question. Either its in the BRB or it isnt .Congratulations on telling me what I already know over and over again without actually answering the specific question.
I wasnt asking post FAQ, I wasnt asking codex update, I wasnt asking for anything but whether or not I missed it in the BRB ... simple question. Stop being a fool just to get people riled up on the internet.

I am not strawmanniing.

I read the question in the OP, it did not say anything about "is this in the leaked rule book?"

I know you were asking if you missed it in the BRB, but the BRB is not out yet and it can change between now and the release date.

I am not being a fool, I was answering a foolish question. I was not trying to get anyone riled up.

Fine, I will be more careful with my language in the future. I will also be sure to play the fool with your language as well. If we really want this to get silly it wont be hard.

It means I will willfully ignore the obvious in order to make your posts and arguments sound foolish instead of acknowledging simple inference. This may be an attempt to show some kind of superiority or to belittle someone else. Especially when saying things like "a foolish question gets a foolish answer."
If you really are so dense you couldn't figure out I wasn't referring to a non-existent text... then I am sorry. Especially considering in the other active thread you posted a video of this "unreleased BRB" that is subject to change is therefor not the BRB. You used this exact thing as a reference to to prove a term was in its glossary.

So just stop acting foolish and trolling. You really acting like That F ing Guy right now. and if you REALLY don't understand why that is, take a deep breath, and re-read your comments in this thread and understand how condescending and willfully ignorant they sound.

seriously. I just wanted to know if anyone caught a rule I hadnt in the documents that currently exist.

I am not going to tell someone holding their codex that i cant help them check for a rule in it because eventually there codex will change or get an FAQ and it will be different.

You realise how the situation you laid out here, and in the OP are two totally different situations right?

I am not going to tell someone holding their codex that i cant help them either.

Thing is, no one is really holding the rules yet.

See the difference.

If this was an 8th ed issue where books were released, I would have responded differently as those full rules are available.

w/e man, the leaked photos of the entire BRB is not what I was referring too ? just stop.

like I realize you are trying to take some anti-piracy moral high-ground thing here. but my question was very simple, and you were wilfully ignoring it to try and make things more complicated then it had to be... simply put,,, i was a guy holding a rule book. I asked if i missed something in it. You put in effort to specifically tell me you could help me because it might change soon... you literally did that... I have that rule book in front of me right now... you get that right. I asked if i missed something in a document that many people have access too and you put in specific effort to tell me you couldnt help me with THAT document because different documents would come out soon... Do you seriously not get this.

and if you try to say you didn't know what 9th BRB i was reffering too,,,, I was clearly referring to the only one people can easily get access too. I dont think that it was that hard to figure out.
So please stop trolling. Is irritating and being condescending towards me making you happy or something ?

You clearly missed what I was saying then.

All I was saying is that the things you saw may be changed by the time those specific rules come out, because FAQ's at launch are a thing. (and you absolutely were not "a guy holding a rule book").

What may be in place with the rules that are not released, may not be true when the release and day 1 FAQ's drop, so there really is not any merit in discussing things that are not released as many changes will happen on release day because, as I said things change...

As for " I was clearly referring to the only one people can easily get access too" not every one can "easily get access"to those rules.

I am not trolling. Stop saying that I am, it is breaking Dakka's rule #1.

Do you seriously not understand that "all you were saying" in your post in no way shape or form was answering my question ?
Which leads me to believe that your motivations were to troll or prove some kind of esoteric/moral point.
I can't believe the cognitive dissonance you have right now where you are doubling down on this so hard.
