Hi im currently building an ork army and in ork style i want a lot of varity within my standard ork boyz. Ive achieved this in part by buying 1 box of older boyz and an older fantasy ork box, besides this i bought 1 set of third party ork arms with revolvers to create a more varried look. So far its going well but i want to add looted gear to my army (partly because my orks are deathskulls). What would be approriate gear to add to my orks taken from other factions?

So far the only idea that i have is damaged space marine shoulder armour and purity seals though those would probably look silly on my orks.

Getting an IG Ogryn box might be interesting. It includes 3 pairs of shoulder plates, 4 sets of body armor (might need some adjustment) 6 shields (might be repurposed as armor plates), shotguns, grenadier gauntlets, mauls, a big knife, grenades... all in a potentially fitting size.

The armor plates on the legs and steel boots might also work

A SM/IG chainsword with part of the arm still attached makes for a decent choppa.

Space Marine helmets as hats, perched atop the ork's head. Spare power fists are fun "punchy mitts." Glue a pair of pauldrons together and give your most special boy a cone 'ead helmet.

Grenades and rockets can be strapped to various places on a boy's kit. The rocket tube from a rhino, or bits from an IG heavy weapons squad, could be found strapped to an ork's back. SM and IG players often fail to appreciate the aesthetic value of pouches and ammo belts.

Shotguns from Space Marine or GSC Neophyte kits could make for fun shootas or sluggas.

Tau drones are great. They make the best hubcaps and hats. Take every opportunity to steal them.

Admech bits can make for great cybork-style greebles, energy weapons, and even replacement limbs.

And of course, taking a blade or spiky bit from basically anyone and strapping it to a shoota to make it more choppy is always proppa. Loot anything from Beekie bayonets to Panzee swords to genestealer claws.

The sky is the limit.
Being practical about it the best way to approach though.
I don't think Orks would care much about a purity seal. It just doesn't seem like something they would bother to loot - but hey, its your army and whatever you want to add is fine.
Guns would be the most ideal looting item, as it seems fair to say that the average Ork would admire Imperial dakka.
I've been painting a looter squad of Grots, and one is wearing an Guardsmen helmet, one has a Guardsman canteen and the rest are sporting various IG and SM weaponry.
Get creative, try to imagine what appeals to an Ork.

I made a post a few days ago in the "So what are you doing today?" thread with this guy, but I suppose this is relevant enough to post here again.
A lot more paint has been splashed on this miniature since this photo was taken, but I'm waiting on a few more paints to arrive to finish him before posting completed pics.
