Look out sir says:

Spoiler:

Conceal says:

Use this Stratagem at the start of your opponent’s
Shooting phase. Select one ALPHA LEGION
INFANTRY unit from your army. Until the end of that
phase, enemy models can only target that unit if it is
the closest visible target.

If you use this on a unit of cultists that are within 3" of a bunch of characters and closer to the enemy than the characters but not the closest unit to the enemy, this means that the opponent cannot shoot either your cultists or your characters, correct? They would have to first kill anything closer than the cultists, then kill the cultists (down to 2 models), before they could shoot your characters?

Yes that seems correct .

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.

RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW.

Whats the closest visible target... they'll shoot that, then cultists, then the characters.

Yes this is right, in the same way that Cryptothralls protect characters from snipers because of their ability.

Ignoring Look Out Sir does not make you immune to other rules.

The Vindicare Assassin handily gets to ignore the Look Out Sir rule, so that throws the entire theory out the window if your opponent has one...

I will not rest until the Tabletop Imperial Guard has been reduced to complete mediocrity. This is completely reflected in the lore.
