Just for fun, I kinda wanted to know what the avg-highest number of shots a single unit can perform, I'm guessing this is done with Royal Guard, I'm just super curious because I can get my tzaangor unit to 32 physical attacks but I kinda have a feeling that's not many.

Guarenteed shots without any external help would be Dakkabots iirc, (Heavy Phosphor Blaster Kastelan Robots). 6 Robots with 3 Heavy Phosphor Blasters each in Protector Protocol. 9*2*6=108 shots.

Mordian Conscripts under the effects of FRFSRF and Volley Fire, who can get (4+4)*30=240 shots, although that requires rolling 120 6's which has a probility of 4.186489x10^-94.

For melee attacks, it would be a unit of 30 Ork boyz and 5 units of 10 ork boyz with Choppa (Boss Nobz with double Choppa), using "Mob up" once per turn to make a unit of 74 Boyz and 6 Boss Nobz, for (74*4)+(6*6)=332 Attacks. With Goff trait that can double to 664 attacks, although that requires rolling 332 6's which is a probability of 4.505934x10^-259.

Those same Boyz with Shootas and Big Shootas (and no Boss Bobz) would be 72 Shoota Boyz and 8 Big Shoota Boyz for (72*2)+(8*3)=168 shots. With Dakka! Dakka! Dakka! that can double to 336 shots, although that requires rolling 168 6's which is a probability of 1.864618x10^-131

20 Berzerkers with chainswords are 81 attacks on the charge. They also get to fight twice, so that's 162 attacks. Not that that's ever gonna happen...

You can get an extra 81 attacks if they are World Eaters (they only get the extra attack the first time they fight).

It's not guaranteed like the Dakka-bots but Imperial Fist Aggressors that manage to stand still average 22 shots per model, a squad of six averages 132 shots. Significantly lower shot quality, but also quite a bit cheaper.

In theory a unit of flash gits can get an infinite number of shots as long as something target-able is within range.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.

I think Aggressors with the 6s to-hit generate extra hits is the most on average.

Other units can get more, with insane luck, but for reliable massive amounts of shooting? Aggressors.

Arco flagelants can do 60 attacks, 90 with priest nearby. For added fun that requires also 20 or 30 d3 to determine attack count. In average you are looking in average nearly 200 roll before enemy gets to save

6 Aggressors near a Chapter Master and Lieutenant, extra hit on 6s to-hit with Bolt weapons.

12 dice rolled for number of shots (average of 42 shots)
114 dice rolled for hits
38 dice rolled for the rerolls, netting you a total of 74.67+37.33=112 hits.
112 dice rolled for wound rolls
18-19 rolled for the rerolls

For a grand total of 294-295 dice rolled before enemy saves.

Now, if we want to get REAL SAUCY, let's make them an Ultras successor, with the Oath Relic, shooting a Knight!

276 dice rolled before the wound rerolls
93-94 dice rolled for the wound rerolls

Totaling at a massive 369-370 dice rolled before enemy saves.
