Apologies if I've misread or misunderstood (please correct me!)

I was viewing the Watch and Learn videos on the warhammer-community.com website, specifically the "09 Learn to Play Charge Phase" video.

At 3:41 in the video, it discusses Consolidate. And makes the Necron consolidation move. It deliberately moves the Necron unit into a position that I believe breaks unit coherency, even whilst refering to maintaing unit coherency as part of the Consolidation move (see the subtitles in the attached image in the Spoiler).

The Necron unit has more than 6 models, so my understanding is that every model must be within 2" of two other models in that unit. The model under the big red arrow is surely failing coherency test? Or have I missed something?

(Its definitely not a simplication of the rule for the purpose of the tutorial - because an earlier video on the move phase explictly talks about needing to be within 2" of two models for larger unit sizes).

It looks like the Necron on the far left is within 2 inches of the one next to it, and the one that the marine is pointing his bolt pistol at. So there is that.

Those blue circles seem quite small for being 2 inches.

No way to really know unless we can measure it, but we can not.

I've been working on the basis (from watching the video) that the blue circles that have been digitally added are indeed indicating the 2" zone - which is the basis of "only 1 Necron is within 2" of the Necron with the red arrow pointing at him"

Thinking about your comment - and assuming the blue circles are not accurate 2"... The primaris marine is on a 32mm base. And it easily looks like you could fit another primaris into the space between him and the third-from-left Necron (which would be the 2nd Necron needed to be within 2"). So I can't see that being the case either, as that would be 64mm, well over 2" gap.

I had thought I'd missed some clause or whatever, but it really does look like we shouldn't be following this video as an example of valid play with regards unit coherency.

It really looks like they tried to do that, but it also looks like they failed miserably at that task.
