My (glacially) slow progress on my guard army continues - I've actually managed to paint some command squads! As always for my DIY 144th Antipodean Regiment, the uniforms are based on the British DPM camo pattern.

Command Squad #1

Command Squad #2 (which seemed to get all the pointing guys)

Master of Ordnance (made from spares)

And a bonus special weapons team (how I wish they made these helmets as part of the standard kit!)

They look outstanding, so sharp and clean. Their Commissar have done a great job keeping them from slacking off.
Really some of the best AM squads I have seen.

I do my Guard with a similar scheme but based on M82 woodland.

Love the DPM look. Very nice work!

That's some really good looking camo! Good work maintaining visual "readability" despite the use of camo.

Mate, they are amazing. Would love to see your recipe, especially as I tried something similar for my 2nd Ed Orks and it came out OK but not a patch on yours! Looking forward to seeing them in action over Inthe Triskelion system ;-)

The whole set looks great, but that sniper particularly looks mean.

If the truth were subjective then the majority would always be right.

Damn that's neat. I have tried various patterns and can't seem to scale them properly. I have 1 cloak I did to a standard I like and can't remember how I did it.

Thanks for the comments all - this army does get a lot of questions about how I do the DPM pattern - here's a close up of the sniper cloak that shows it more clearly:

Essentially, its a medium green base (I use Tamiya Flat Green airbrushed on, but any medium green you fancy would do), followed by yellow (Tallarn), a darker brown (Rhinox) and then the final black accents. Essentially you want to use a smaller brush to get the 'flick' effect and ensure the brown crosses over the yellow to get the look. It's not a perfect replication of true DPM, but works at this scale I think.

Superb work, especially details and individuality. I would only change up the rim color to a brown and maybe more stuff in the basing like rocks and scrubs.

If you do decide to make the base edges brown, dabbing either of the Stirland technical paints on will give a nice textured earth effect.

If the truth were subjective then the majority would always be right.

Thanks for the feedback guys, but with over 1,000 painted minis (not just this army), I have no plans to repaint bases!

It’s the result of starting collecting way back in 2nd Ed - green bases are 40k for me!

Very crisp paint job. Usually camo schemes look kind of muddied, but you avoided that nicely.
