This is with models I own, and I own some few more.

It's at only 1883, so there's room to spend. I'm a 16 year 40k veteran, but a nooB to I.G. I played a few games with this list, almost the same in composition in 8e. I got clobbered every time, but SM was high on Iron Hands and Viglius before things went pandemic, right?

I am looking for places to make it better. I'm amazed that a brigade still fills so easily at 2k. For Fast Attack, I can manage a Hellhound instead of sentinels and/or a 2nd valkyrie.

I can change one of the LR's main gun, Battle Can, another plasma-cutioner. I glued that first tank (years ago) so one of them will stay a PlasmaCutioner. I can swap in or out the side sponsons, HB, Plas. I have HF, LasCan for the front gun. The Tank Cmdr can be demoted to a regular tank.

I can swap C.O.s to commissars and I have more dirty hippie lookin' dudes (Citadel miniatures, so legally GW) for more psykers of either type.

I included points, as often, at a points change in the beginning of an edition or a just dropped Chapter Approved, things get missed.

Catachans, right? Warlord Trait? Relic, if applicable?

HQ
Tank Cmdr - Ex PLas Cannon, x2 plas Can, x1 Las cannon - 230
Co. Cmdr - x3 - 105 for all three

If you’re making them catachan I’d take out scions and include Straken. How’s the 9 model Ogryn squad working for you? I’m contemplating upping my 6 Ogryn unit cuz I love the models so much.

So my suggestion is that you have too much anti-horde and won't face many hordes in the current meta, and nearly no antitank and you are likely to see lots of vehicles. Its possible to incorporate the suggestions you already got from above, and improve on this a bit. Two options (one has no wyvern and 2 tank commanders with 1 leman russ heavy support and a pair of heavy weapon mortar squads, the other has a 2 leman russ heavy support and a single wyvern. I saw a few prices that were just a bit wrong in your list, like you didn't pay for the multilaser (minimum price choice) on the valkyrie. I don't have the points in front of me tonight, though.

Spoiler:

straken warlord, no trait.
tempestor prime
tank commander plasmacutioner/plasma/plasma/lascan (master mechanic. -1 to all incoming damage per shot) (1cp tank ace strat)
tank commander plasmacutioner/plasma/plasma/lascan (master mechanic. -1 to all incoming damage per shot) (1 cp tank ace strat)
psyker primaris

plastoon commander able
platoon comander baker
astropath
ministerium priest
7 bullygryn (or, if a better valkyurie, 6)

scions with 2 melta
scions with 2 plasma
gaurd 10 man with flamer
gaurd 10 man with flamer
gaurd 10 man with flamer
gaurd 10 man with flamer

scout sentinal with heavy flamer
armored sentinal with heavy flamer
armored sentinal with heavy flamer

LRBT with demolisher cannon, 3 heavy flamers
heavy weapons squad with 3 mortars and six guys
heavy weapons squad with 3 mortars and six guys

valkyrie with 2 multriocket pods and multilaser (or, if one fewer bullygryn, add in 2 heavy bolter and upgrade the multilaser to the much more useful lascannon.)

If you absolutely want to keep a wyvern on the field, note that you could do so by only having 1 tank commander, converting 2 platoon commanders into 1 company commander, and using 2 lrbt instead of 1, and losting the heavy weapons squad

And I think it works this way, but I am not certain, would have to check math with the books handy and they are in my car downstairs. Note that you could also get to a wyvern by replacing 1 weapons mortar squad and 1 leman russ battletank with a basilisk and a wyvern, giving you a nicely armored HS section with 1 basi, 1 wyvie, and 1 heavy weapons squad of mortars. Also a decent option, because the basi can be part of the armor duel phase, and you still have pretty decent antihorde indirect.

One idea could be a DKoK Spearhead plus a regular IG Bat or Outrider.

Grenadier and Mars pattern LR in the Spearhead for a decent amount of study ObjSec.

Then in the regular IG bat you can take cheap psykers, Sentinels and Tank Ace Manticores. Some extra infantry/Conscripts to round out the points.

Best of both worlds.

They are great models. Solid, easily built & painted and they do look badass.

I just assembled bullgryn 7, 8, & 9 yesterday, so I'd played the list with just 6 of them. They'd get ignored, as they were slow, and I didn't given them a ride. Valkyries just didn't seem like a good use last edition. Once the bulls would become an issue to an opponent, they'd get hosed down, but it'd take a lot of fire power. And SM had/has enough. If I got them near something, they could trash almost any target. Somehow didn't draw any matches versus a Imp Knight list, but I didn't play this often. I failed to field them with a Ministorum Priest though ... But now that DukeofStuff has pointed that out, that character bonus will baby-sit the bulls.

Thanks, there's some spots for tightening up the tally.

I think I will go with this option and keep the 2 wyverns

It occurs to me that I ought to open the 3rd LR that I own. It's still in plastic wrap. Blasphemy, I know. Fortunately, I think it's the last unopened box of 40k in the garage. There is a basilisk available, too.

I changed the list very close to what you've recommended, Duke:

Tank Cmdr - all plasma & 1 Las Can
Straken
Test Prime
Primaris Psyker

Platoon Cmdr.
Astropath
Ministorum Priest
Bulls x9 (will consider the smaller sized unit for the Valkyire ride)

Scions - x5, x2 meltaguns 55
Scions - x5, x2 plasmaguns 55
Squad - x10, flamer 55
Squad - x10, flamer 55
Squad - x10, flamer 55
Squad - x10, flamer 55

Scout Sentinel HF
Armored Sentinel HF
Armored Sentinel HF

Heavy Wep Team x3 (I only own 3 bases)
LR - Demolisher Can, x3 HFs
Wyvrns x2 (I like for the indirect, which I think this edition is going to provide more LOS blocking and I really put effort into painting them)

Valkyire - Multi this and that 115 points

This weighs in at 1993.

'Course when I get to finally play against somebody

I appreciate your suggestions and advice, guys. Thank you.
