Howdy!
I'm in the process of starting a new Tyranid army and have descided to magnetize the bases so I can transport them in some sort of metal carrying case.
Been looking these past days for a case that would fit a mix of horde units but also some of the bigger models like Flyrants, Tyrannofex and so on for an army of around 2000-3000 points.
Have narrowed it down to either the "P.A.C.K 720" with magna trays OR the "A-case hybrid the Kane".
The PACK seems overall sturdier and wider but shorter. The A-case is a lot taller wich might be better for bigger/taller models but not as wide as the Pack.
Do any of you have any experience with these cases? What are your thoughts?

Why not make your own? Some random container, metal sheet to bottom and maybe to lid as well. Works for me and lot cheaper than premade. Over 100e for 1 or about 10 of self made?

That was my plan initially. But these just seem nicer and more practical than anything I could make. I gues I'm also just a bit too lazy to make one

One thing with the PACK system is that you can buy more rack spacers and trays and go for one of their larger backs if you need too or zip one of the pack plus bags onto the 720.
The Magna racks are very good, but have a few bugbears:
1) The sliding racks are fantastic and slide very easily - if a bit too easily. In the case they are fine, if taken out you might find them a bit too free to move if you're carrying the rack around.
2) The slots push together to make the vertical spacers; however if you've any weight you need to carry it by the bottom not lift it by the top or they pop out.
3) They don't make half inch spacers.
That said you can get around most of those; a simple drill and magnets and you can fit some magnets to the front of the shelf to help give it some hold-in support; a simple saw and you can cut longer spacers into shorter ones. BF are aware of these "issues" and perhaps one day will release some modifications just like they modified the racks to go from fixed to sliding.
Note sliding are great because it lets you easily access models within the rack without having to wriggle your hand in or having to pull it apart.

I don't know those cases, but I'm very happy with mine from https://www.army-box.de

If you go for a DIY option Greenstuffworld (and no doubt other places) do self-adhesive 'rubber steel' sheets, which are easier and safer to cut to your specifications than metal.

I've got a couple of steel cantilever toolboxes. They were about 15 quid each from the nearest DIY store, which is a fraction of the price of the cases actually marketed for miniatures with magnetised bases (A-Case etc.). I can fit a lot of infantry sized models in the cantilever compartments, and the larger bottom compartment is big enough for a few dreadnought and grav tank sized models.
For bigger models than that, I've been contemplating picking up a suitably sized Really Useful Box and epoxying some sheet steel in the bottom.

LITKO has these on Amazon too. Definitely a better idea tha straight metal. Since they're rubbery stuff doesn't slide around much either.

I can attest rly useful boxes. Its been a life/game changer for me.
Also this company does very reasonably self-adhesive ferro sheets cut specifically for rly useful boxes size.
http://www.tinytintroops.co.uk/Bases/Flex_Mag_sheets.htm
You can get like 6 sheets for 12 quid. which will in most cases be more than enough.
I have 3 boxes already and I just gotta magnetize more bases.
I tried attaching washers/coins with superglue to rly useful boxes but it just doesnt work.

I decided to go with the P.A.C.K 720 with sliding magna racks and a P.A.C.K plus bag.
What made me choose this one was the fact that you can just add more and more PACK plus bags if I ever felt the need, since they just zip right on to the 720 bag. Making this bag that much more flexible than any other cases I've been looking at.
Thank you all for your feedback

I really love my PACK 720, although i don't have the magna racks yet. I do have the PACK plus bag though, and its really handy. I also picked up the mole book pouch and I found that helped balance the bag a bit, since now I can put books on either side of it.
