Hi all, so lately I've come up with a little project in mind inspired by some recent lore I heard about, regarding Corvus Corax going into the warp and also some of the Horus Heresy novels, particulary the one that featured the mutated Raven Guard.
With that in mind, and conversions planned for it, I got to building a heretic astartes list (as I wanted it to be primarily somewhat mutated marines) with Corvus as a daemon prince. The closest thing to being a warp-empowered Corvus that I could think of.
I wanted the list to be viable, but more importantly I wanted it to fit the theme of like shadow marines and be fun to play.

So here it is:

++ Battalion Detachment (Chaos - Chaos Space Marines) ++

Legion: Alpha Legion

+ Stratagems +

Gifts of Chaos (2 Relic)

+ HQ +

Daemon Prince with Wings: 2. Clandestine, Malefic talon, The Rapacious Talons, Warlord, Warp bolter, Warptime, Wings

Sorcerer: Combi-plasma, Death Hex, Force sword, Mark of Tzeentch, Shadeblade, Weaver of Fates

+ Troops +

Chaos Cultists: Mark of Slaanesh
. 8x Chaos Cultist w/ Autogun: 8x Autogun
. Chaos Cultist w/ special weapon: Flamer
. Cultist Champion: Autogun

Chaos Space Marines: Mark of Slaanesh
. Aspiring Champion: 2x Lightning Claw
. 4x Marine w/ boltgun: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Boltgun, 4x Frag & Krak grenades

Chaos Space Marines: Mark of Slaanesh
. Aspiring Champion: 2x Lightning Claw
. 4x Marine w/ boltgun: 4x Bolt pistol, 4x Boltgun, 4x Frag & Krak grenades

+ Elites +

Greater Possessed
. Greater Possessed: Mark of Khorne
. Greater Possessed: Mark of Khorne

. 5x Possessed: 5x Horrifying Mutations

If you're playing off the Raven Guard, you should really be running Night Lords. The Night Lords were always the dark reflection of the Raven Guard. Night Lords are also far more appropriate for all of the Lightning Claws you're bringing. That's kind of their signature.

I did consider running them as Night Lords, however the reason I decided to go for Alpha Legion, was primarily because of having the same chapter/legion trait, as well as access to the relics and warlord traits that make for some hard to hit and moving through terrain shenanigans

Also I usually play Alpha Legion, and play them sometimes as Raven Guard when I want to use Primaris marines hehe

I felt like Warp Talons would make for an interesting conversion of the Dark Fury but slightly mutated, all other lightning claws were purely for cosmetic reasons

I also considered running them as Red Corsairs
But the Alpha Legion relics just tipped it in their favour

Fair enough. It's a super rad concept and a good list, too. Competitively, you might be better off dropping the Warp Talons for more Possessed, but I would love to see this concept realized on the tabletop.

I do agree, Warp Talons don't particulary have anything good going for them, but I had to have at least one jump pack unit in there, plus they still have the daemon rule so they can benefit from the MoP abilities
I have actually changed the list to give the MoP the Mindveil relic so he can teleport around the board and keep up with whoever he needs to

I dig the concept and like your legion choice. That said I second the suggestion for night lords. I say bump to 2k and run both. I have often in 8th and the combo is solid. Plus now I'd say claws of the black hunt are much better than rapa talons, on a lord that is..

As for warp talons I feel they are still ok even at their effing bs pts cost. Look at what it costs to mechanize 2x5 zerks for example.. when talons can just start on the board.

I think I'll definitely consider looking into the Night Lords as well, see if I can replicate the list in some way that remains true to the concept but also fits in with the Night Lords rules
I did also consider the Red Corsairs as an option also, but with a lack of extra support from Faith and Fury they haven't been as appealing as the major legions

There is a warlord trait I initially had but switched out for the extra -1 to hit, that allows you to remove your warlord and place them within 3" of a friendly unit 9" away from the enemy.
Part of the reason for including the warp talons was to drop them somewhere valuable as a beacon for this
But has the daemon prince has wings i figured the additional -1 to hit (-2 outside of 12") was more valuable

Another consideration is master of diversion. Better now in 9th and can teleport characters other than the bearer.. If only at the start.

Anyway I was thinking your sorc should have tda or a jp. If taking tda that would allow you to consider vipers bite which I've found to be a great relic.

I suggest these two options because of the Nerf to hit modifiers making those other two choices largely extraneous.
