I’m playing a tournament this weekend and wanted some feedback on my list. I’m trying to go as competitive as possible. The plan is to benefit from Farsights double montka to fall back and shoot. That’s mainly why he’s in the list. Other than that I wanted to rush multiple squads of breachers and drones on objectives. Maybe put some in reserves to get as many objective points as possible.

Explain how the montka lets you fall back? If you mean to advance out of charge range and fire normally... I'm thinking you probably don't need that more than once, its like salt, do you want farsight or not.

I think the list is light on crisis suit firepower, but that's a lot of firewarriors on the board, so that may be okay. Maybe have a few more firewarriors instead of breachers for holding backfield objectives and contributing firepower.

Are we allowed to have 4 units of drones now?

Maybe your patrol detachment wants to be Tau Sept or Viorla? to take greater advantage of the breachers in the devilfish.


What do you know of your tournament meta environment? (thought of taking a 2nd warlord trait, if its useful, I guess thats not really list building but onsite tactics)

And you have boatloads of CP... try to max out your relics? No reason not to at least also grab the PTE.

You count as having stayed stationary, which with the way 9th movement is defined effectively overwrites the Fall Back condition.

It's likely unintentional, but pending an FAQ or updated Mont'ka wording it does technically work. It's Siegler's latest competitive concoction.

So all that and it requires using 2cp for desperate breakout to get out of engagement and then pop a mont'ka to shoot as if you hadn't moved.

I didn't see that trick before. If they FAQ mont'ka with a fallback word in its text, then the trick doesn't work anymore. I like it.
