So I've been thinking about getting into 40K, and I really like the look of the Grey Knights with there Nemesis Force Sword. Sadly it looks like they are the weakest option, so here's my question would it be legal to put a Nemesis Force Sword in the models right hand, and a Nemesis Falchion in it's left, and say the model is equipped with Nemesis Falchions?

The core game requires you to represent your data sheets with the appropriate models, but it does not have any more detailed rules regarding correct representation of weapon options. In theory you could bring a Space Marine sergeant with 9 plasma gun guys and use it as an all boltgun tactical squad.

In casual games people are going to not enjoy playing against you if they can't identify your units because none of them have the correct wargear. However, small changes are likely to be fine, and what you want to do is so minor that I can't see why anyone would mind.

Individual tournaments will have their own rules for exactly what is allowed so you would need to look at the specific requirements. Again though, swapping one type of sword for another in your case is unlikely to cause a problem because it is obvious what the model is supposed to represent.

Casually? I don't foresee any issues-the only paired weapon they can have is the Falchions. In fact, I'd wager that most opponents won't even know the difference.

At a tournament? Clear it with your TO, but still unlikely to cause issues.

I'll echo the previous sentiment that it's going to come down to your opponents and any respective tournament organisers, but in this case is probably ok. However - be aware that most of the swords have the second hand modelled onto the grip already. So you're looking at some fiddly conversion work there to remove that extra hand.
My suggestion would be to snip off the bottom half of those grips anyway, since having such a long grip for a sword held in one hand would look quite ridiculous.

WYSIWYG isn't a rule any more. As long as you're using the correct Grey Knight model for whatever unit you're representing, as far as the rules are concerned it's legal.

As the others have said, how far that will actually get you depends, so it's easiest to just make models as close to WYSIWYG as possible just to avoid arguments.

The rules only go so far as to tell you the models of your army have datasheets that detail how to make units of those models for play. While those rules have a very strong tendency to match up with (and only with) the equipment configurations allowed by the model kits, the rules never actually tell you to abide by WYSIWIG.

That being said, many opponents will want you to utilize your models in a non-confusing manner. Most tournaments will require you to abide by some level of WYSIWIG. This is not to limit your creativeness, but to ensure clarity to your opponent as to what they are facing on the battlefield.

Therefore, be sure to your customization of models is as unconfusing as possible while also being 'cool'. The idea of long & short swords to represent Nemesis Falchions sounds cool and unconfusing. It's not like there is any other way for a Grey Knight to have two swords other than Nemesis Falchions.

It's almost 100% about the potential for confusion. Given that GKs can't take dual swords in any combination except dual falchions, the potential for confusion is essentially zero. 99% of players won't even know which is which, and for those that do, they'll know that the only option is both falchions. So it's not like anyone is gonna be like "hey wait I thought you had one of each!" Not that that would probably cause them to change their approach in any possible way anyhow...

WYSIWYG is a requirement in most tournmant packs - particularly with weapon options

Just not in the rules
