So here is a question. Do you use color shift paints? What brand is best? Talk about your experience with them. Are you in favor of them or do you think they are a waste?
I myself have never used them before and I would like to get some use on them. I was looking at using them for my Necron project but I’m just not sure about them. My biggest hang up on them is that I have never used them and I don’t know if they will be good looking over army or just ugly at that point. Plus I don’t know if any of the brands are better then one another. So it’s time for me to ask some question and search the web for ideas. I figured I could start here.

I've had a tinker with the Green Stuff World colourshift paints ( here and here)
They're cool, although the effect can be fairly subtle, and it takes a lot of coats to build up the colour.
They're not going to suit every paint scheme, though, as you can't really shade or highlight them.

I second what insaniak has said. Alos got a bunch of GSW colorshift paints
They can be tricky to work with and "look right".

Interesting, the post above is a good example of using them with a brush and I can say I haven’t done very well using them with a brush, maybe I haven’t appreciated how many layers are required.
By airbrush they work very well and I think could be great for necrons. I would also recommend Green Stuff Worlds colour shift paints. I’d recommend watching the GSW videos on them and their creative videos. The thing I like about GSW is they sell reasonably priced paint sets, 6 at a time I think. And the paint comes with a mixer ball in it, just make sure you give it a good shake and remember you need the gloss primer.
I have found that you can blend them with an airbrush and you can still add shades and highlights if you are careful about what colours you choose
I’m no expert painter but here is my last attempt with them.

That looks great and the fact you could get a picture showing the shift is another great thing. I've been using Turbo Dork's color shifts. I've used both air brush and brush with great success. The effect is really nice to see with the naked eye.

I’ve never heard of turbo dork but they look like interesting colours however they are more expensive than GSW, fyi.
In the example pics they provide the finish doesn’t not look very smooth, what’s your experience?
I just realised Vallejo do colour soft aswell! I thought GSW were the only ones that did this, I still feel
Like such a noob Automatically Appended Next Post: I’d also say that my experience with colour shifts is that they need to be shaken reeeeeeeaaaaaaly well. Sometimes where I have not had the result I want I’m pretty sure it’s cos I didn’t shake very well

I used GSW colorshift on a squad of Akelian Guard from AoS (Idoneth Deepkin) The paint gave them a very interesting and eyecatching look. For a Space Marine? Nah. For a daemon? Maybe
It depends on the model

Not used them myself, but after what this fellow did with color shift paints for his DropZone Commander Scourge army, I'm considering it. (I've a Scourge and Post-Human Republic fleet to paint ...)
Sorry, I can't find a way to directly link to the appropriate pictures, so you'll need to scroll down about two-thirds of the page.

Mmm they look good, you have them experiment with what colours blend. GSW did a tutorial recently of how to get flame damaged metal using colour shift which I’m looking at using for a drop pod. It almost feels a bit too easy if I’m honest but good for people like me who are still developing their brush work.

I've only got the one - GSW Psychotic Illusions. Turquoisey-green flipping to pink. I'm using it for aethersails for my DE Raiders along with a hex mesh stencil, and in my own humble opinion it looks bloody fantastic.
