Example:

Captain with imperiums sword charges and gets +1 strength and attacks for the fight phase.

He makes swings with his thunder hammer.

Is it strength

(4 x 2) + 1 = 9

or

(4+1) x 2= 10

I believe in 8th you doubled the addition but I can't find the answer in my grand tournament booklet. Anyone have a reference for me?

It is Strength 9 per the rules on Modifying Characteristics.

8th and 9th have the same rules for modifying characteristics.

However, 8th had a Special Snowflake FAQ which instructed you to apply non-weapon modifiers to a models characteristics first, and then apply modifiers granted by weapons.

With no such FAQ, we go back to following the rules, where you multiply/divide first, then add/subtract.
