Subject: Creature of the Wheel. Marine in a wheelchair.
Since most Imperium tech is hand-me-down and centuries old, there are only so many Dreadnoughts to go around.
If a Marine worthy gets wounded too soon, they've got to do something until a Dread comes free.
One of the older White Dwarfs featured a Marine with the lower half of a Dalek (which GW made plastic models of, at the time!).
A Marine could easily lose the use of his legs in a battle, but not be so injured that he's put into a dreadnought. Might not have time to fit him with bionic legs before the next battle.
