Hi All

I previously used the cheapo amazon one and it seemed to have work for a time but died/stopped working properly so I binned it.

Im looking for a new, better one for my new place and workspace.

What M3 do people recommend I need?
Is anyone able to recommend any off the shelf booths that fairly small but powerful?

My airbrush booth is a made-for purpose sheetmetal construction with a filter set in front of a mesh, behind the mesh is a big fan, which is sized like a big PC fan. I added a secondary fan with a bit more power.

The whole idea is just to spray in the direction of the filter and have the airflow be sufficient to draw floating particles into the filter as well.

You can buy fold-out plastic spraybooths on Amazon which should do the trick nicely.

I just bought a cheapo Amazon collapsable kit, and stuck some newspaper against the wall behind the exhaust because I'd heard paint can go through the filter so while it takes a long time, you can end up painting the wall behind your booth.

My WHFB armies were Bretonians and Tomb Kings.

I use a Henry vacuum cleaner attached to a large open fronted cardboard box (spray booth) and it seems to do the trick

I used to use a cardboard box with a decently powerful fan that'd blow it straight out the window. It worked great, could even use rattle cans with it, right up until there was a Northerly gust of wind, which could overpower the fan and blow the fumes into my room.

Got sick of needing to check the weather forecast before spraying and swapped to a cheapo one (probably similar to the one you said died on you) but adapted my more powerful fan to it, as the built in fan only kinda sorta worked. The stock fan wasn't really strong enough, if I sprayed toward the back of the booth it was fine, but if I sprayed too much or too close to the front of the booth it wouldn't get the fumes out quickly enough.

So yeah, cheapo one but just adapt a more powerful fan to it.

If ever I get sick of this one, my intention is to get a document storage box (the ones with the heavy sides and fold up lid) and make my own booth with a much bigger fan and longer ducting.

Do you have a source for some sort of tutorial how to do.it?

I ended up getting another cheapo one off amazon. But would like to improve the fan intake off the bat or when it end up dying.

The one I got came with some tubing, so I ran the tubing into another box which acted as a shroud for the more powerful fan, then ran that outside. It's important to seal the box to the fan reasonably well, otherwise the fan won't suck out of the booth so much as suck air through the gaps in the box.

In the USA I remember box fans being really popular (kinda designed to sit in a window frame) and I imagine that'd work well, but box fans aren't really a thing here in Australia so I just used a circular fan and did my best to seal it up.

I suppose you could fit a better fan in the unit itself, the unit I got the fan was quite small in diameter and it I couldn't find a good fan of the same size that was any more powerful, so to put a better fan in it would have required cutting a bigger hole and making a new shroud to adapt to the exhaust tubing.
