In the grim darkness of the far future there is only war... And making money.
I've been collecting 40k for about 20 years now, and know is as good a time to revisit and repaint some of my collection. When the current unpleasantness is over, I might even get a game or two in.
I've always been attracted to the idea of the Rogue Trader. Or a Rouge Trader if you are more of a traditionalist.
One of the attractions is the modelling potential. One can build up an eclectic collection of miniatures, and they could all be worked into the force. Either as protagonists or as antagonists. High Tech & Low Tech. Devout and Apostate.
The first of the forces i'm going to showcase and improve on are the Bronze Battalion https://imgur.com/gallery/wtnM5nG
The Bronze Battalion is a veteran force, the last remnants of a regiment. Up until the rule of three reduced the numbers of veterans squads that could be taken, that is what they were. 5 Squads of veterans built for the 6th edition codex.

The blue visors make me think of UN peacekeeper blue helmets. Which is a tempting uniform should I ever do my own Guard...

So it has been a while since I posted, but I've gotten a great deal accomplished the last while. I've decided to make a Feudal World Guard Army + Terrain. This army is going to be an infantry army and will be filling in a complete Brigade.
The goal
4x Infantry Platoons each with a Company Commander, a Platoon Commander, A Command Squad, Three Infantry Squads, a Special Weapons Squad and a Heavy Weapons Team.
As a side note I hate the rule of three, as it means that the units I make for the fourth platoon only the infantry squads will be useable.
There will also be a veteran platoon with a Company Commander, A Command Squad and 3 Veterans Squads.
A Rough Rider company with 1 Company Commander, 1 Command Squadron, 3 Rougher Rider Squadrons.
There will also be a Separate Detachment for the Stormtroopers
3x Stormtrooper Platoons with Commander, 1 Command Squad and two Stormtrooper Squads.
Additionally there will be a Rogue Trader Voidsman Squad for each of the Rogue Traders.
Additionally there will be at least 1 unit of all the other infantry options in the codex.
So some of this has been done but a lot remains. Some of what has been done will also require redoing as I decided officers and character models should be on 32mm basis to make them easier to distinguish from the other units.
Here are the three Rogue Traders and the supporting characters.

Also I'm a firm believer in the idea that each player should also have a table's worth of terrain and the terrain should be matched to their army. Here are the trees (It is not a proper Feudal World if there aren't dark forests for Beastmen to lurk in)

I love those trees and I also second that the colour scheme for the guardsmen is great.
Did you paint the guy with the dual autoguns yet? I'd like to see a close up of him. He looks like an eighties action hero.

Thank you. The colour scheme also works thematically. After all they are an army of Redshirts.
Here are the four previously unpainted ones, now with 100% more paint.
The inspiration for the pose came from this scene in Thor Ragnarok.

The Rogue Traders and their voidsmen came out great. The red and gold work well together, I might have to borrow it when I paint up the second one in your pics (I forget her name ). The forests look awesome too, the different foliage colours are great

Thanks for the kind words. Sorry for the images being off, I had made albums on Imgur and it broke the links, they should all work now.
One of the things I've also done is I've used different coloured flowers on the bases to show which units have which keyword. white flowers are Rogue Traders, red flowers re regimental units, yellow flowers are auxiliaries and purple flowers are stormtroopers.
I have also decided some of my older miniatures also need to have the opportunity to see the table so they have been repurposed to fit various roles.
The Burgermeester of Heidelberg is also the leader of the Militia of the town. This is because the Burgermeester is usually the richest merchant in the town, and as a result have a vested interest in investing in the defences of the town to keep bandits, rogue Ratlings and the titanic spiders out of the town.
The Burgermeester counts as Creed if the regiment is used with Cadian Doctrine. The minitature was one of the Empire Townsfolk that games workshop released when revitalizing the Empire range. in the mid 2000's
The Burgermeester also has a bodyguard, but the Stadsraad is unwilling to pay for a bodyguard, so she has been hired as the Kok. The food is edible, but he is safe against any would be assassins.
The Kok counts as Nork de Dog, and is a converted Ogryn Maneater with a ripper gun from one of the earlier Ogryn kits.
The Dominee is the senior priest of the Church. He is a crony of the Burgermeester and always advises the Stadsraad to align with the wishes of the Burgermeester.
The Dominee counts as a munistorum priest, and the model is Arch-Confessor Kyrinov from the days of the metal sisters of Battle.
The Dominee is assisted in his pastoral duties by the two Ouderlinge. The twins might be short in stature, but they make up for it brutality and belligerence.
The Ouderlinge counts as munistorum priests, and are converted Bretonnian men at arms models.

Now for something a bit more spooky. Psychic powers have been a boon and a peril for humanity. In this particular area there are three notable psykers. A convention is that all people with psychic powers should wear green clothing. This sometimes catches visitors off guard when they accidentally wear green.
The first is Rooikappie Ludwig, he is the proprietor of the local cemetery. He is noted for the bright red pointed cap that he wears. He is also famous for the pink roses that he grows around the graves. In the rules he is a Primaris Psyker. He is a converted model using parts from the old empire wizard kit and parts from the Celestial Hurricanum
Another figure from the area is Liewe Heksie. Although she has a fierce appearance, she is actually very kind and accommodating, and takes particular care of children. She is also rumoured to use her broom to fly... In the rules she is Aradia Madellan and the Model is the old Mordheim Witch.
A newer figure to the area is a sign of the more recent Imperial expansion. They are an Astropath that has been tasked to serve as a liason between the newly appointed Imperial Planetary governor and the Mayor. They have adapted to local styles of dress. They use the standard Astropath rules and the model is an Imperial Wizard with a head from the flagellant kit.
