I love Typhus Corrosion, it's such a simple and effective way to add weathering.& grime effects to tanks. The only problem is, just like GW's texture paints, it is extremely expensive when you consider how small the pots are.

Are there any good, cheap alternatives out there?

I've been experimenting with some Green Stuff World liquid pigments, I like what I've found so far, but they are not quite as awesome as TC.

i just bought a tub of AK Interactive 'corrosion texture' for £9 or £10. comes in a 100ml tub so much cheaper per ml then GW. Not tried it yet though.
