One more idea for a competitive list. This is pretty straight forward, lots of armor and tons of firepower. 4 russes, manticore basilisk in the back with a MOO while the scions push up for mid range firepower.

I don’t really like the concept of 10 man Scions squads in transports, I prefer to keep them as 5 man squads and deep strike them. This view might be skewed by the fact that I find the Taurox model to be ugly as sin though. How do they perform for you?

Having said that this list looks like it could be pretty lethal in 9th Edition though. I can’t help thinking that a few cheap Infantry Squads to hold the backfield would be beneficial, though would mess with the theme of this army.

Yeah, was doing 10 man squads for efficiency of orders. And taurox primes are really good at burning down medium to light infantry. I have found my taurox primes in other lists are pretty good. That additional ap-1 on all their weapons makes it mean with the gatling.

I was debating between the basilisk and infantry squads. Came down to me wanting more firepower.

I honestly think a second full pay manticore is worth more than a single cbc leman russ battle tank -- and yourlist gains a few points if you swappo them that way, and enough indirect threat to focus down a critical target if need be.

Yeah, I've been thinking of getting a 2nd manticore for this. They are just so good right now. What do you think of this list w/ 2nd manticore.

I like it.
The basilisk is the weakest unit I see there, and I am a fan of a good solid basilisk.
So yeah, I like it. Would be fun to face off with.
