Subject: How does ObSec work in 9th edition?

After one the most recent Goonhammer articles brought it to my attention, I noticed that 9th Edition defines Objective Secured differently.
A player controls an objective marker if they have any models with this ability withing range of that objective marker, even if there are more enemy models withing range of that objective marker. If an enemy model within range of an objective marker also has this ability (or a similar ability), then the objective marker is controlled by the player who has the most models within range of that objective marker as normal.
Does that mean that if I were to have 3 tactical marines on a point and the opponent has 1 tactical and 3 terminators, then the opponent gets the objective since there are more models than my 3 tacs and obsec is disabled since we both have obsec? Is this not RAI? How do tournaments run?

Ooooh, good spot! I hadn't realised that. I take the same understanding from it as you do, it seems... to put it very simply, the two opposing 'Objective Secured' rules cancel each other out, rather than becoming a higher tier of scoring unit.

Hmm I'm following this, seems it's written in a bad way but not the intent. However I'm waiting for the experts opinion on this.

How do you know the intent ? No one, except the GW rules team, knows it. Rules changed from 8th to 9th. Aldran is right, the way its written obsec is disabled by one enemy model with obsec. If that happens only the number of models in range counts.

This was the case with 8th edition for each faction once their Codex had been released. I've just double checked my Space Wolf, Chaos Daemons, and Dark Eldar codices, and they all confirm this to be the case.
If you played it differently during 8th edition, then you were playing it incorrectly.

So I posted the same question on the Warhammer Competitive Reddit. Tournaments seems to be running it with the Obsec disables Obsec and also this has been the case since 8th really. It seems that this rule has just been read wrong en masse. Is this some king of Mandela effect occurring here?
Anyway as of now it seems that that is the way the rule works.

I have always played it RAW. I do not see why not.
