So, question. If you make an army with two detachments, can you have two warlords, i.e. one in each detachment?

I ask because it appears to me that answer in the rules in 9e is no, but at a recent tournament it was ruled (in short) that as battlescribe appears to allow it... it was allowed.

TIA.

It's one warlord per army. However, several armies do now have an ability to take an extra warlord trait on some characters. This doesn't make them your warlord.

Important aside: never use Battlescribe in place of the actual rules. Any tournament that does so is probably not worth attending, IME.

Agreed. And battlescibe usually says -1CP for the stratagem if you want a second WLT on an unnamed character.

Cool, thanks all.

Follow-up question: is it possible to 'link' two detachments in battlescribe into a single army?

Yes, with android you can add another detachment if you touch the three dots, then edit forces, then forces, then the +, then roster, then select faction, and detachment. On PC you need to click on new roster, then select new roster, and add force, now select faction and detachment.

p5freak's instructions aren't quite right for making Detachments out of multiple catalogues, if that's what you meant. Those instructions are here - https://github.com/BSData/wh40k/wiki/Creating-Detachments-Using-Multiple-Factions

Also, the 40k data for Battlescribe definitely gives a validation error when there are multiple Warlords in a Roster, so if a player submitted a list with two Warlords they must have ignored that error.
