I have read that the stratagem Duty Eternal has been removed in the new Space Marine codex, and has become a part of the Dreadnought unit datasheet. In addition it has been modified to reduce incoming damage by 1, to a minimum of 1.

If this affects ALL incoming damage, and not just the first wound taken in the phase, then Dreads become like Wave Serpents, and I foresee Iron Hands making a big comeback. Venerable dreads and Redemptor dreads with 6+ FNP, Serpent Shield, and lots of shooty, plus the CORE rule so they get buffs, oh and they can use their guns in close combat too, seem like a really powerful option. Might be time to invest in a Redemptor and buy up all the chonkanaughts I can find on ebay...

I'd wait and see what it does to Bjorn and Murderfang too.

there are a lot of little things that could have intreasting implications with this 'dex. such as the fact that space wolves now have stormraven access and thus could do things like air drop bjorn

Opinions are not facts please don't confuse the two

I also think we will see dreadnought heavy marine lists in the future.

Air Drop a Bjorn who reduces all those 2D Fists etc to 1D and then has 5+ FNP.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see if marines are broken again

When did they stop being broken?

The strength depends on some things.

1) CM reroll aura is gone
2) The FW dreads were the real culprits - where do they sit?
3) Obsec
4) Contemptors are down to WS/BS3 (implications for FW?)
5) There will be a ton of melta and they have no access to an invuln now
6) It seems likely that the Ironstone won't stack

I could see a ton of techmarines back them up and dropping any CM/LT since the dreads can push their own reroll 1s to wound and the techmarines will toss out a few +1 to hit.

Yea, well, lets us know how spending 350+ points to drop a single W8 dreadnought works out.
