So with the 2W update Sternguard are now the same points as intercessors but:
- have a -2 bolter instead of -1
- have ld 8 instead of ld 7
- can go in rhinos, razorbacks and drop pods which are cheap transports
- have a much wider range of weapon options, e.g. lascannons etc

the down side of course is they are elites but on review of the codex there are at least a couple of ways around that with say a lieutenant with rights of war to make all units 6" obsec or the chapter ancient with his WL trait - or hell have both.

I'm really liking them on paper

They used to be good with the stratagem giving them +1 to wound. Now... I can't see myself using them in a game with a 1D bolter that will barely wound anything.

You intend to use Heavy Intercessors instead, or Stalker Bolt Rifles?
