UM players have you ever maxed out the 6 troop slots with 6 10 man squads?

Given the new core rules and obsec, I can see myself running a full 10 man squad

I have 10 incursors, 10 intercessors, 10 assault ints, 10 infiltrators, and will get 10 heavy ints.

I am asking since I can get another 10 man of regular ints for free through my amazon rewards.

Only once in an apoc game back in 5th when putting my whole battle company on the table. Did not go well, but that’s way out of date and not relevant for the current game.

That’s a lot of points sunk into basic guys. Sure, it’s a TON of wounds that need to be blasted off the table, but how much pain are they going to dish out? It’s going to end up being a skew list. You are going to have some good match ups, and some bad ones. With that many ObSec bodies, you are going to be in a good spot for the objective game though. It’s a bit far from a TAC list for me to want to try, but I think it would be interesting.

That said, I’m personally ramping up to a primaris battle company, so approve of 60 troop pick battle-brothers.

I did in 8th once, I ran a joke list of 100 basic tactical marines so I had to run 2 detachments. I actually won that game, my opponents anti tank was worthless and my infanty easily held the board thanks to objective secured. I combat squaded every squad too so that was just too much for them to deal with.

The heavy intercessors may become a contender for full troop allocation picks. They seem fairly killy and very tough for a troop choice.

yeah I am thinking heavy bolters on them.

They seem a great pick

In 8th I ran 50 troops every game with Ultras. Never 60 though. I wanted as many 10 man units avialable to use rapid fire stratagem with gman. Plus it was the easiest way to chain to gman to get his aura and still contest things. Now you take 15 troops and its all you need. Unless you just want more objective secured bodies.

I think I did with SW back in 5th edition.

That codex has some terrible internal balance where long fangs and grey hunters had some amazing good rules and costed very few points.

5 man grey hunters with wolf guard sergantvin razorbacks. Oh baby!

Yeah I believe I did in 5th ed for Space Wolves. 6 5 man Grey Hunters with a Wolf Guard Terminator with Cyclone Missile Launcher. That combined with Two Lascannons/Missile Launcher Long Fangs Squads for ranged firepowe, some scouts, and a drop pod with Logan, Arjac, and a Multi-Melta Longfangs squad was my army.

For 9th, and more specifically for Crusade, I intend to bring my 30k Ultras to the fray, which will include the equivalent of six 10 man Tactical Squads. I'll be "upgrading" the army to a Primaris force along the way.
