Hello Guys,

I try to paint with said Color but it takes me at least 4 Coates every time to reach opacity... so I Wonder, does anyone have found a substitute with that same exact Color? I tried the dakka dakka list, but the recommended Vallejo game Color (US field Drab) ist very close. And before I go and buy dozens of paints, maybe someone here found already the perfect substitute?

What colour undercoat are you trying to paint over?

Chaos black which works fine with the rest of the colours.

Interesting link. I think Vallejo Brown Sand is probably the closest of them. However I think it is quite dark, considering, that it it painted on white background... on the other hand, the picture could be Bad...

I have some AP Leather Brown and a pot of GW Calthan Brown and they are almost exactly the same. Obviously not a great option as a replacement as its OOP but if you can find something that is a Calthan Brown equivalent you might be on to something. And if you can find some Calthan Brown its a foundation paint so should go on over black no problem.

No I'm looking for a decent snakebite leather.

I use Cote d'Arms 217 Leather Brown.

Its the original Snakebite Leather, since CDA did the old GW paints in the round and hex fliplids.

Thx for your help. I looked for substitute for Calthan Brown and I found a few. However, the new GW Version is Mournfang Brown, which they use as a substitute for 2 different old GW Colors.... one of them is Vallejo Model Color Flat Brown or brown Sand and Game Color Heavy sienna, Do you by any chance have one of these Colors to compare?

The closest current GW paint is probably Gorthor Brown rather than Mournfang. If anything Gorthor is actually a better match than Calthan Brown. But its a layer paint so probably not going to give you great coverage over black. I don't have any of the Vallejo colours you mentioned to compare.
