Back when I played SW I reeeeaaaaally loved the dreadnoughts. I stil do. But I have no idea how competetive they are.

How competetive do you find dreadnoughts? Space wolves also have some other tricks, with the blizzard shield.

In general they are very good counter charge units. Any idea about them?

Marine dreadnaughts are better than ever after this latest codex came out. They have a lot of variation in between the different options to really let you play how you want. And now gw has opened up the "vaults " so to speak so that chapters that used to not be able to take certain variations (sw didnt get ironclads for example before) now can.

Example : sw have access to the following "purely cc dedicated dreadnaughts"

Venerable with axe and shield.
Ironclad
Wolfen dread
Murderfang.

So yeah, there are lots of dread options. If you enjoy them they can easily play the current game well.

Yeah. I just purchest Bjorn the fellhand. Gonne use him to babysit some combi plasma terminators midboard. He got the wolflord aura, re-rolling 1's on cure units. Something you really want on plasma. He has the character keyword so he can hide behind them.

I have a hard time coming up with lists where they are good. They are quite versatile and hard for enemy units to take out without a high damage weapon. Therefore melee seems to be a good idea.

I have no idea howto best build the rest of the list to suport more dreads. What makes them tick?

A Techmarine isn't a bad idea-they can be upgraded to heal 3 wounds automatically, and I think a Warlord Trait that gives them an aura that increases the attacks of nearby Dreads.

I can consider a techmarine. I just think he is very exspensive.

I did a point comparison between veberal dread and wulfen dread. Is the wulfen dread way undercosted? 125 for blizzard shield and axe, can re-roll charges. Venerable dread with the same sett up is 160. Only trade of is one pount of BS and WS.

Dreadnoughts will be shot dead fast without a gimmic. Bjorn had character. Wulfen dread has 4++. Not sure if redeptors T8 will be keeping it alive as such?

You do not like it? Seems like a good missile to me. The wulfen dread that is.

125 points. 8 wounds. -1 damage on him down to one. T7, 3+ 4++. The T and saves and - 1 damage makes it just enoying enough for your opponent to deal with. No ideal weapon can be pointed as this one

It has no range threath, so can be ignored until melee. It needs to get stuck in. Frost axe givving it 8 attacks means it can not be boged down in melee. While the -1 to hit is bad on the big damage attack profile, the space wolf +1 to hit midigates it somewhat.

What dreadnoughts will you be fielding in your game?

No, I like them a lot. -1 damage is pretty huge. Especially on something like a redemptor.

I'm gonna try a "Dreadnaught list" in my next game, having them move in a bubble around a Master of the Forge (+1 A aura and repairs) and a Chapter Champion (reroll charge aura, also bodyguard to the MotF.)
