Looking at the Convergence of Dominion, the new terrain piece for Necrons, I was surprised by the price. Compared to other GW kits, there seems to be a lot of plastic for the price. I'm not complaining, as it is a very welcome change. What am I missing? Are the starsteles tiny?

Anything I say, unless expressly noted, is my own opinion. Take it as you will

Going by the one picture on the webstore which has Warriors in the foreground, they don't look tiny.

GW does occasionally accidentally price a kit in a way that looks good - this seems to be two identical sprues, making the three starsteles, which reduces mould costs and may therefore affect the kit price?

It does look like your base for the third starstele is split in two and needs gluing together - fortunately, it looks like each half has a peg and socket to keep them aligned, which is handy.

Scenery models are usually manufactured in China (by Warlord Games I believe). The Covergence of Dominion at $60 US is the same price as the Bad Moons Loonshrine:

Well, the rules are complete garbage, though that doesn't necessarily impact the price I guess.

It is just big hunks of monolithic (ha, ha!) plastic though, not little parts, so it's probably pretty cheap tp make.

I do like that Loonshrine, despite not liking AOS.

Each sprue seems to have 3 large pieces, 2 medium pieces and two small(ish) pieces on it.

Probably just tall and thin. The Canoptek Doomstalker is taller than nearly everything I have, almost as tall as a knight, and is a relatively cheap kit.

The huge imperial statues were the same way, just a few big pieces on the sprue.
