Me and my possy recently came back from a tournament. I decided to build a new army For this tournament and went with orks. Turns out that everyone had fun with the ork army, both ourselves and our opponents. We where thinking about doing a four player orks thing for upcoming tournaments. Then we went about talking about what we wanted to build. We found some things we wished was included in the ork codex or box wise. Note that this tournament allowed legends. Here’s more or less what we discussed. We where generally considering themed armies.

1: mega armoured warboss. It’s just silly that this is legends and not in the codex/has it’s own kit.

2: a proper warboss kit/changed entry. Currently it’s not easily customizable and lacks options.
Example: There’s some things the lists allows you to do that is not available. Let’s say I want to build a sneaky themed army based around the new subculture that makes my kommansos stronger. I can make a detachment with kommandos but if I pick a hq he can’t infiltrate with the rest of them. If I want him to infiltrate then I need to pick the special character Skarsnick, who does not belong to that clan culture. Could be quite easily fixed with a stratagem or something. Opening this up would allow for some cool themes I’m sure. Currently you can’t even have a warboss benefit from the tin ‘ears culture! We wished for a warboss to be able to have good synergy with all the subcultures.

3: A grietchin HQ choice. The idea of a grietchin themed army is a fun one. We where thinking something along the lines of a bigger killa kan or a grietchin in a mech or on a bike.

4: grot tanks. They do exist in forge world but we’d wish them as a regular unit entry.

5: grot mega tank. Same as above.

6: squig hopper, squig trainer, or just an entry of squigs.

7: Burmas for boys. It is silly that the boys are only allowed big shootas and rokkits.

Edit: haha, forgot to write that I’d love to read other people’s ork wishlists.

His pattern of returning alive after being declared dead occurred often enough during Cain's career that the Munitorum made a special ruling that Ciaphas Cain is to never be considered dead, despite evidence to the contrary.

Orks are probably in for a major restructuring when their new codex hits.

I see Orks, Aeldari, and Tyranids in for some big changes.

They could start releasing limited run Warboss kits designed to sell like their man Primaris lieutenant kits. Short run of 8000 prints or so at events and such with different gear options.

I'd really love more ork tanks designed in a way to mimic what the Killbursta looks like. I know that the Battlewagon entry is supposed to cover a variety of ork "tank" types, but the Battlewagon kit itself doesn't scream "tank" to me. The Killbursta does. So something slightly smaller, in the same boxy shape, with ramshackle tracks, is what I'm looking for. The ork heavy support section already has a huge ton of choices, but I think you could come up with some interesting datasheets to make players consider taking them. They'd also go great in a vehicle-based Ork army alongside all the buggies.

Since three of those heavy support choices are just variations on the same battlewagon kit I'd say there's room for expansion.

New plastic Warboss on Warbike
New Mega Warboss kit
Plastic Big Mek
Plastic Weirdboy
Looted Tanks or some sort of other new tank for orks that fulfills a similar purpose
Plastic Kommandos
Plastic Tankbustas
Plastic Deffkoptas

I want Grots and Flash Gits to be able to take kultures (Flash Gits not being locked into Freebootaz would be great)

The same preview that showed the new Leilith also showed what appeared to be a new regular Boy with a Shoota and Choppa.

I could be wrong and it could be some new thing. But it sure looked like a regular Boy.

Given the four other models in that particular preview are characters - and Lelith is the internet's conclusion, not one yet confirmed by GW to my knowledge - it would be very odd for the Ork portion to be a new unit rather than a new character.

I'd say its 95% certain to be Leilith. The markings and runes even match her current model.
And I agree its odd about the Ork mini.
But it really doesn't look like a character. Even for the brief clips you can see its not covered with fancy bits, its all quite plain.
And he is just carrying the standard Choppa/Shoota loadout so I dunno.
I guess we will see.

I mean, stricky speaking Lilith is fairly bland as characters go. I always felt the unnamed character looked nicer from a detail point of view. Same with the unnamed archon.

Not all characters need to be dripping with detail, sometimes less is more right?

Oh I agree with you.
But its not GWs style either.
The Ork looks too plain to be a GW character to my eyes.
And honestly I'd prefer new Boys.

I'm just concerned they'll screw the boyz kit over. Make it monopose or lacking options and interchangeability with the rest of the ork line. By using the stormboyz, lootas, biker, the occasional flyer or vehicle crew kits you can have even the largest ork horde be fairly non-uniform.

I really hope it's not boyz.

A new boyz set will be all downside for everyone involved except collectors.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

Kits:
1). Generic HQ's
2). Grot snipers
3). 'Ard boys upgrades/Kits

Rules:
1). I kinda wish that BS5+ meme was dropped. Let characters have access to gitfindas/similar gadgets to improve their BS.
2). Burnas for boys; Big shoota buff, be it number of shots, AP or or making it 0 pts.
3). Improved armour saves for elites (burnaboys/lootas)
4). Either increase durability of boys or introduce a respawn mechanic that does not cost CP (more like a wishlisting for any horde army overall)

This one keeps popping up. Are you guys not aware that the 'ard boyz upgrade can be found on the nob/special weapon sprue of the boyz kit? Those are literally the same bits as the original metal upgrade blister.

Orks should have proper tanks.
Squig units are sorely lacking. Give us flying bomb squigs, gunsquigs etc.
Grot snipers
Ardboyz, commandos, tankbustas, warboss variants, normal bigmek with kff. Jeez the orks are lacking a lot of kits...

Brutal, but kunning!

I'd welcome any new release that doesn't invalidate current kits. I'd rather stay with the current roster than being forced to permanently shelve a significan amount of the models I own.

And yes, putting to legends means squatting.

To be honest the only new kit I'd really like for orks is a multi-option warboss. Then other single unique new characters would be awesome.

As a complete new unit: cyborks! They existed in 3rd and were actually a lot of fun to play but never got official models so they have been squatted with the following codex. They were basically boyz with T5 S4 (boyz were S3) 1W 5++ back then, now they could be T5 S5 2-3W 5++.

Maybe 0-1 squads and only available with a painboy in the list, like they used to be. It would also give a better purpose to painboys as well.

The gunwagon is a proper tank actually. And buggies are basically light tanks.

I was thinking more alongside torsos with more armor, scrapshields for arms instead of just shoulderpads.

I don't think the difference between those torsos and the regular boyz will be noticeable though, and it doesn't change the fact that 'ard boyz actually do have model support.

IF GW does 'ard boyz, it will be mono-pose boxes of 5-10 and no one wants or needs that.

It's a strange situation where we have to slightly fear new releases. Like with the imperial guard, a new range of models would inevitably invalidate what you already have, and therefore mean a serious cash investment to stay up to date.
Personally I'd like a wierdboy kit.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples

There was a selection of options released for GorkaMorka that allowed you to make various Cyborks, and I'm pretty sure some of them were Wargear choices in 2nd edition too, such as the glorious Gyro-Stabilised Monowheel. I can't recall if there was a specific unit for them in 2nd, though.

Initial things I'd look at as releases for Orks would be:
- Plastic Deffkopta, with appropriate weapon options
- Boyz upgrade sprue to make Tankbustas
- Boyz upgrade sprue to make Kommandos
- Review the HQ section, determine gaps, and fill appropriately.

Cyborks were part of the 3rd edition codex, when most of the gorkamorka models (bikes, buggies, trukks as exceptions) were already OOP.

A new ork boyz kit would probably mean 10 monopose models for $50, the way GW has been doing kits recently. I'll pass on that. The current boyz kit is aging, but it's also compatible with most of the other kits that contain ork models.

On the topic of cyborks, I'd love for cyBOARS to make a comeback as well. Those were always one of the most flavorful parts of the ork range, and Snakebites need more love.
