This unit will be included in our upcoming 6th Edition Campaign... what do you guys think?
Torbjorn Mountaintamer is a Runesmith who is charged with one more task before he is honoured with the title of Runelord.
He has been sent by the King to parlay with the High Elves at the Fortress of Dawn on the south end of the Great Continent (The Southlands). However, he and his band are surrounded along the way by Pygmy Skirmishers and Skinks on Horned Ones!
The Skink Priest in charge questions Torb about the Anvil of Doom their party has brought with them. To demonstrate that the Dawi have peaceful intentions and were on their way to seek allies, he strikes the Rune of Hearth and Hold.
Nearby, a Pygmy Elephant has heard the booming strike of the metal and has come running to the clearing, mesmerized. Taken aback by the sight of this "Dwarf Elephant" Torbjorn is overcome with a feeling of reverence for this creature.
He humbly requests the honor of crafting a suit of light armour for the great beast... and when he has completed his task the Skink Priest recognizes the bond between them and wisely bequeaths the Elephant to him.
TORBJORN MOUNTAINTAMER is a Runesmith with their statline (except a bump to Initiative): M3 WS5 BS4 S4 T4 W2 I4 A2 Ld9
Torbjorn has been a faithful apprentice for hundreds of years now, and even from the beginning of his training he has been recognized for his ability to intuitively master the hammer and anvil.
He therefore has the special rule Rune Expertise that allows him to bring the Army's Anvil of Doom to battle despite his rank only being Runesmith and not quite Runelord.
He is mounted on a Pygmy Elephant and this beast carries an Anvil of Doom for him rather than two attendants.
He wears Gromril Armour so in addition to having a Monstrous Mount he has a 4+ Armour Save. The Anvil of Doom Grants the entire model a 4+ Ward Save.
KARAZ-IT ("Little Mountain") is a Pygmy Elephant that is going to be roughly equivalent to a Lizardman Stegadon (Better WS and I, worse T and W). Statline: M6 WS5 BS0 S5 T5 W4 I4 A4 Ld5
He is thick-skinned and wears a set of special Light Armour Torbjorn has smithed for him, giving him a total 4+ Armour Save.
He is a fearsome beast; he is a Large Target and Causes Terror.
Despite being a "Dwarf Elephant," Little Mountain can get a lot of momentum going in a charge. He also uses his tusks to gore his foes. The model does D6+2 S5 Impact Hits on a charge.
As an elephant, Little Mountain has a very particular personality. The entire model is Stubborn.
He also has the Special Rule: An Elephant Never Forgets (A Grudge) - Little Mountain will Hate the first unit or character that successfully wounds him or Torbjorn for the remainder of the Battle.
THIS MODEL OCCUPIES 2 HERO SLOTS (1 for Torb, 1 for Anvil of Doom) AND 1 RARE SLOT (Little Mountain). THIS MODEL COSTS 500 POINTS (100 for Torb + 165 for Anvil + 235 for Pygmy Elephant)

I honestly don't see anything game breaking here, so I don't disapprove. Which Dwarf book will this be taking g the Anvil rules from?

We are using the 2005 Dwarfs Army book, so the Anvil of Doom rules for us are coming from pgs 30-31 of that book.
I tried my best to keep things dwarf-y but to also tune the power level to skink-priest-on-engine-of-the-gods

So the one that works like awar machine and can't be dispelled? Guess it only matters if your club approves but I'd like to change my game breaking stance from above.

It does get compared to a war machine, yes. The enemy doesn't use dispel dice against it but it has a 16% chance of 'miscasting' on regular power and a 50% chance on Ancient Power.
It currently is set to take up 2 Hero slots and a Rare and cost 500 pts. What would you suggest to tune it down to the correct power level?
We could change it to a Lord, Hero, and Rare slot I guess? Or raise the cost? Or we could increase the chance of a 'Miscast' to 33% maybe?
Other options could be downgrading the Causes Terror to Causes Fear? Or making it easier to kill with only a 5+ Armour Save on the Elephant?

I would agree to this, if anyone doesnt its just another Anvil of Doom which in previous editions was wheeled and could presumably move.

Upon further deliberation and out of caution for overpowering an army we know nothing about, we have decided to nerf a few things before we start testing our new insanely good looking model out:
Torbjorn, even with centuries of experience, is not a Lord yet, so he only successfully strikes Runes on a 3+ rather than a 2+, and he strikes with Ancient Power on a 5+ rather than a 4+.
(This effectively makes his "Miscast" rate 33% on regular power and 66% on Ancient Power)
We also wanted to further distinguish the Pygmy Elephant from the Stegadon as a Monster, so we have decided to nerf Little Mountain's Armour Save to 5+ since he will still be tough to kill with a 4+ Ward Save.
With these two adjustments, and keeping the cost extremely high (2 Hero slots, 1 Rare slot, 500 Points) I believe we are at a good starting point to at least test it out in a few games.
We can always make more tweaks as needed.
Thank you guys a ton for all your feedback

If Dwarf Fortress taught me anything it is that elephants get on with Dwarfs about as well as skaven do.

Oh no! I have not seen that
Maybe the rune helped? (But this is a dwarf elephant....?)
….Plus we already bought the incredible model AND wrote him into the campaign lore so he's here to stay!
MAYBE we could use that angle to do the thing boars used to do? it lowers his Ld by 1 due to its stubbornness? Idk
