Any ideas of what generally makes a good wash for dark bronze?

Citadel Agrax Earthshade or Nuln Oil. Army Painter Strong Tone (or Dark Tone, I forget what it's called). Basically any dark brown or black wash. Vallejo have some in their Game Color range. Although I'd use their inks rather than their washes as the Game Color Black Wash I used on my Terminator Chaplain left a black chalky/dusty/ultra-matte look to it.

I would use Agrax or a 50;50 Agrax - Reikland for a warmer look.

For dark bronze I start by basing with Balthasar Gold, layer on top we Sycorax Bronze, then finish off with some Nuln Oil.

Depends how dark. Bronze is usually your dark area. I find it seldom needs to be darkened. I would use a blue green though, to add a hint of verdigris.

I've found that watered down shyish purple shades bronze really well. I use it after agrax to deepen the shadows.

Depends on the color scheme. If you're going dark bronze on a cold model you'll want a warm wash like a burnt umber but if you're doing the bronze on a warm colored model you'd probably want to stick to a colder wash like a deep green or blue or even purple. Generally use color theory to your advantage.

I have been using this recipie. You can highlight with a tad of silver/metal to make it shine. Or can base gold, wash and gold and gold and wash again and gold again to get a much deeper darker finish.
I really rate the druchi violet.

Take a look at the below canopy + trims to see how it turns out for me.
