Because he wants to field tons of Heavy Support units. And with 3 elites he couldn't bring a single spearhead, he needed the patrol. Patrol + spearhead or spearhead only grant the same amount of CPs anyway.

List looks fine, maybe it's a bit short on anti infantry firepower, it'll definitely struggle a lot against a typical Goffs horde for instance. It's nicely tailored against SM though, which is what the majority of player does in the tournament environment.

Thanks for the replies! I didnt see any comments on the list for several days and stopped checking. I would love to face orks one day, but ive never played against them. Lots of marine opponents though!

Words cannot express how much I love this list, Retributors and Mortifiers are my two favourite units from the codex.

I would be interested to know how the list performs for you on the table, it seems to lack a midboard presence with the lack of obsec but it might just be able to do enough damage output to make that irrelevant.

There's no reason the second detachment shouldn't be Valorous heart or Argent Shroud. I would also drop the dominions in favor of a preacher+ Additional imagifier.
