Subject: Alternative Salamanders Scheme (Deleted)

EDIT: I deleted my Gallery photos etcetera, since I'll start a new account with my real name as username.
OLD POST: When me and some friends recently returned to the hobby, I decided to be extremely boring and play Space Marines Salamanders. However, I didn’t want to use the green Salamanders color scheme.
I thought that I might perhaps share some photos of my alternative scheme. Maybe someone will enjoy it.
Click on the photos below to see them in higher quality (in the Gallery):
As I obtain more painting experience, I hope the quality of my paint job will improve.

Nice I don’t like the modern salamanders and official colour scheme, nor the dark angles. Maybe something to do with green.
My feeling is that GW presents certain colour schemes in order to sell base wash and 2 layer paints highlight for highlight but it’s not necessary for all paint schemes. I’m not saying don’t highlight but warpstone glow on Caliban green doesn’t work IMO. I think I’m going to do my DA with gold trim and lighten DA green with natural greens.
Can yellow be used to highlight green or will that make brown?

I’m of the same opinion. For some reason I don’t like green color schemes for marines. Not really sure why though.
Maybe you are right about GW and color schemes. However, I’m not sure how this would ”preclude” any color scheme? I mean, can’t they sell the same amount of colors regardless, as long as they promote certain ”required”/recommended combinations of paints for any particular color scheme?

In case anyone would like to see more Yellow Salamanders, you might follow me on Instagram. I’ll post more stuff as I make progress painting the army. (I know that I’m basically a ”noob” painter, but I hope I’ll improve in the future.)

They can sell the same amount of colours I just think GW presume they will sell more of they show horn certain colours in to the shop window colour schemes

I like it . Who cares if they are Salamanders, Yellow/Gold dragons, Flaming Newts or Dorn's Dragons. How did you do the red shoulder pads? IT's how I tried to do some Algoryn infantry for BtGoA a couple years ago.

Thank you! I ordered too much vegetation and other stuff from Diorama Presepe some time ago, so now I just put a lot of it on any mini bases.

Thank you! Basically it's mostly a 50/50 mix of Mephiston Red and Rhinox Hide on the shoulder pads. On the bolter it's a similar mix but with a slightly greater proportion of Rhinox hide (and then e.g. a wash of Nuln Oil). And then some highlighting with lighter reds (this is not yet fully completed).
