Hello,

I've joined WH40k early this year and due to corona crisis never had chance to play with someone. Meanwhile I'm slowly collecting and painting my Thousand Sons army.
So far I have un/painted 10 Rubric Marines, 15 cultists, 10 Tzangoors, 2+1disc exalted sorcerers, Ahriman/disc, 5 Terminators, Daemon prince and Rhino.
With all my unit-settings it's around 1366 points army.

My "dream" is to have 2-3k pts army, but I'd like to mix one other CSM army into it (excluding daemons).
Can I do it ? Will I suffer some "terrible" penalties because of multiple detachments in 9th ed ?
Main reason is to have/paint different units, rather than 2-3x Daemon princes or 2 units of Rubric Marines, etc.

I don't want to have best army, I just want to have fun, but also chance to win sometimes ,
avoiding terrible soup which doesn't cooperate.

My visions are
if Black Legion -> I must have Abaddon
if Death Guard -> I want to avoid poxwalkers and nurglings (not really fan of models).

Some of my models could be transfers to different army like Cultists, one exalted sorcerer looks like "ordinary sorcerer" and Daemon prince is still on sprues.

Thank you

Basically all you have to do is pay a couple command points for another detachment. Most commonly what people do is run a second patrol detachment because it is cheap at 2CP and has only minimum requirements of 1 HQ and 1 Troop.

Abbadon is a very good unit. Give him something to give rerolls and he's extremely powerful.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

I believe from the fluff Tzeentch and nurgle don't get on but there's not really anything in the rules to reflect this. I'd go with Black Legion/Abaddon, with these you can also bring in Obliterators and Havocs for some heavy fire support.
You have quite a nice mix of the main units for Thousand Sons already however you may want some more Tzangoors.

I've been playing a while, my first model was a lead marine and my first White Dwarf was bound with staples
