Just stomped my friend's Necrons with this list. Maybe I was just lucky, so any toughts on the list are welcome.

So the idea was just to literally drive towards the enemy, shooting twice with turrets and than legit charge into combat.

I put flamers so I dont get locked in combat with my blast weapons unable to shoot, also overwatch is great with flamers. Since my plan was to get really close, this worked great. Also I erased all his vehicles turn 1.

The guards were there to sit behind and hug the objectives, while Chimeras were there to follow the tanks and clear objectives (with 2 flamer squads).

I love the list, but I fought only Necrons and only once with it so I dont know if it would work as a general list.

specialist detachments, like the conquerer battle cannon, are no longer useable in matched play.
also, I tend to run my tanks with all the same or similar turret weapons, so that I don't give my opponent the chance to remove all the antihorde by killing that punisher, and/or the best antiarmor by killing the demolisher -- and leaving the PG cannon firing morosely at a T8 target with a 2+ save.

Other than that I like the list, althoug I am not a big fan of auger arrays and track gaurds, myself.

Ah, so I guess I'll have to remove the conqueror. I wasn't a fan of him anyway... I took augur rays only so I can re-roll the hunter-killer missiles for some extra 'umph'. And track guards I had to put because of my tactic, and that gets as close as possible as fast as possible so I can flame my enemy and then finish off in charge if needed with Fist's stratagems and dozer blades. Other than that, I dont like track guards aswell. Too expensive, and tanks don't usually move as much, but in this, they will come in handy.

Aha. My language was imprecise.

The emperor's fist specialist detachment is another thing banned from matched play now. Just as the Conquere battle cannon (which is a legends only item now) is banned from matched play.

I was trying to warn you that you army was going to raise a few eyebrows in people who specifically bought new models, and painted them, then went to the FLGS expecting a more or less matched play sort of thing, and you show up with an army out of eighth edition and go "its ok, right? I mean, sucks to be the guy who bought a whole army just cause they banned this one, lets do narrative today."

That's only good if they are using the same models they used to, basically, and don't totally feel like chumps for buying 400 bucks of new models, blowing a week of their free time painting them, and then saying "thank god, that sucks, I miss the detachment, but at least I am legal for matched now."

Well, thank you really for warning me about that! I came from 5th edition straight to 9th so I gotta wrap my head around those stuff. Had NO idea that specialists were gone now.

But, I dont have anyone to play with other than my friend hehe... No 40k community in my town...

Anyways, Ive modified the list now. I dont wanna cheese with 2x Demolisher Tank Commanders, so i switched the Conqueror for an Exterminator with 2x Plasma sponsons and Heavy flamer. So am gonna see how that goes. Also they are not emperor's fists anymore, they are now just dudes.

This list is really close to one I'm planning to try soon. A remix from my 8th edition Mech Infantry (dropping from 6 chimeras to 2). Also running executioners as the heavy slot.

Can either have them stay close for a re roll 1s blob, or each Tc can break off with one of the executioners. Let me know how your list does if you run it. Will do the same.

Both is not true. Specialist detachments are banned for grant tournament missions from the small GW book, but its still legal in normal matched play games. Legends are not recommended for tournaments from GW, but TOs can do what they want. And they are also still legal for normal matched play.

I watch the tourneys around my area because I would LOVe to field an army with legends units (my elysians have sat out a long time) and specialist detachments (my drop troop valkyries and scions boost those plasma output firepower by an incredible 67 percent, allowing me to table entire armies of marines with waves of shooting)

But yeah. Not so much, not since the rules changed, ever, not once, not in a 100 mile radius (roughly) from where I live. There might be a tourney I ain't heard about but people who play this game very competitively are watching out for me in the hopes I will get to drive to one and play all the models I can't.

Its possible some backwater places will allow it, I guess. If you were in one, like wherever, and you brought an army like that, you might could play your units,
