Are there official rules for 2v2 games? If not, how do you usually play them?
Does each teammate have their own CPs, or do they share a pool?
Does each player have a warlord (so 2 warlords/side), or do teammates have to agree on a single warlord for their side?

There are no official rules for 3+ player games in 40k 9th edition. Apocalypse does support 3+ player games.

As BCB says, there are no official rules.
HIWPI each player gets their own CP, but based on their army size not the battle size, IE in a 2k doubles game, each player has 1k points and 1k points worth of CP to spend. No sharing.

I was at a 2v2 tournament for charity last month.
we had 1000 pt lists, 6 cp each. 1 cp / team /turn and
1cp / person / turn / 10 swedish crowns for charity.
Every single team bought the max amount of CP (because charity)
so it turned into
1 cp in a team pool and 1 cp a person every turn.
Not sure if this was a balanced or good setup but it worked for the charity tournament.

As an aside, as "infinite" rolls is actually impossible even if the FAQ "allows" it, then it will always be a non-zero chance to pass them all. Eventually the two players will die. If they pass the game on to their decendents, they too will eventually die. And, at the end of it all, the universe will experience heat death and it, too, will die. In the instance of "infinite" hits, we're talking more of functional infinity, rather than literal.
RAW you can't pass the game onto descendants, permissive ruleset. Unless we get an FAQ from GW. |

My group also plays a lot of 2v2 games. No official rules, so here is what we do. (Note, we tend to be more narrative, casual players who do try to win on the table, but not in the build stage)
We play at 1k per army, 6 CP per player, each player earns a CP each turn.
Each player chooses their army separately. So has a warlord, warlord trait, relic, etc. Armies are chosen before teams are chosen. This helps avoid overdone synergy (one ally brings all horde orcs, the other only IG vehicles, etc)
Psychic powers, auras, strats, etc cannot influence your ally, no matter the keywords (this was for balance; a team with identical keywords would otherwise destroy the mixed bag they are facing).
Either ally can deny a psychic power regardless of the target.
Each player on a team choses ONE secondary alone, without input from their ally, and then the two choose the third together. (This avoids stacking conditions with one players build)
We had to adjust a few of the VP conditions (mostly slay the warlord. We decided each warlord in the opposing force was worth 5 points) other secondaries we just take as Opponent includes both opponents.
During deployment, each player on a team deploys a unit during their turn to deploy.
These games tend to be close, and really enjoyable with big swings each turn and many "second" chances to save the day. Hope you give it a go and have fun!

I never forget the Dakka unit scale is binary: Units are either OP or Garbage. |

My 2v2 games essentially treat each player as a head on a 2 headed giant.
So each SIDE gets the same amount of CP they would as a player (including paying for detachments), and each SIDE has to spend stratagems, etc. Each SIDE has to have a unifying keyword, etc.
essentially think of it as one player with two battalions (or whatever detachment) vs another player with same.

Ork Admiral Kroozin Da Kosmos on Da Hulk

When we play 2vs2 every player builds a regular battleforged army with a warlord, free detachment and so on.
During the game, the two armies act as one player, with a shared CP pool and only 1 CP generating per turn. We had the experience of games getting lopsided when each player had a full pool of CP and when some stratagems are being played twice in one turn.
In 2vs1 games one player just plays two armies.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe. |
