Never really got into IG, but admit that the novel 15 hours was damn good, and I remember than the DKoK and the savlar chem dogs were released at about the same time aeons ago.
DKoK has gone on to become a very popular meme, but the SCDs don't seem to have caught on. I was wondering if people still played them, used hem, bought or made miniatures of them, etc.
I'm kinda surprised they never caught on much, they seem like a perfect contrast to the super dedicated fanatically loyal IG units. I don't think they ever had a novel. I kinda like the idea of the guys who are muttering "Feth the emperor." while everyone else is screaming "FOR THE EMPEROR!" and stealing everything that's not nailed down, plus everything that is nailed down along with chunks of the floor it was nailed down to.
I can just imagine some blood ravens looking for their flamers and power swords while some cackling SCDs are carrying them off.
I just think that a lot of players would like the cynical, backhanded "parallel universe" version of the elite IG unit meme. Maybe I was wrong.

They got some art and converted models in the most recent Codex, so they still exist.
Personally, I would field them with the Slum Fighters and Jury-Rigged Repairs traits.

Thanks, I was hoping they still had like their own rules and stuff, not just a "build your own by inserting pre made rules" but I'm kinda glad, but dont know why, they're still a thing.
It might be interesting to give them rules that let them be used by a variety of armies, IG, chaos, GSC, maybe even tau if they offered some payola. I'd like them to have rules for the infamous 'nitro chem' inhalers.

There are a ton of great 3rd party models out there. Lots of companies have a chem dogs equivalent. Look through the usual suspects' websites and you'll see what I mean

They at one time had rules for the chem inhalers back in the 3/3.5 era codex.

They've shown up in recent years in Guy Haley's Baneblade novels and short stories, as one of the crew was a Savlar when the main character got his own Baneblade.

Yeah, the rather rough and dirty driver known for doing chems pretty much 24/7 to keep awake and watching out for the rest of the crew. Even if that meant shanking someone in a dark alley.
I do reckon we need to see more chemdogs in novels and such.
But yeah, in regards to rules, you can pretty much only use the custom regiments to make what you feel fits best.

Hmm, no special rules just for them? I;m thinking of a special rule for nitro chem inhalers, come see it on the 40k proposed rules forum if you want.

Probably just run the Valhallans rules or whoever gets a bonus to morale would make the most sense.

Since Guard have Build-a-bear traits via PA: FTGG, you could represent them with the Agile Warriors (Re-roll advances, they are hopped up on chems after all) and Slum Fighters (Melee hits of 6 cause an extra hit). Or you could run them as counts-as scions because the chems make them crack shots, or something!

One rule I remember is that the elites of the imperium (SMs, SoBs) would not fight alongside such scum. Maybe that is a rule for them too?

I mean it's a major handicap to bring Guard allies with SOB and SM now anyway, so it's a non-issue really.
