Well as 2020 comes to a close, and most of us had the opportunity to pretend we have more time for painting but really didn't, I would like to take this time to show off some of what we may have accomplished.
I know for me 2020 will likely be my peak year for miniatures painting. I even managed to paint my first complete army with a Death Guard commission:
The commission was done in three major parts with a couple of ancillary additions. The bulk (shown above) of was mostly Poxwalkers and a couple of sets of Dark Imperium. Followed by more Poxwalkers (I think 60 in total), like 20 or so Plague Marines and a handful of Terminators, various
HQs, three drones and 1 Blighthauler and custom Rhino. The commission was orginally supposed to be just a quick 3 colors up to get this player up and running and if they wanted to they could easily finish the models later. However, they proved a lot easier to paint, and I didn't think the owner really was going to finish them, so I completely painted and based them for the cost of the basing paint.
Also, this year was more additions to my Primaris army. In addition to the Indomitus stuff, I really filled out my Gravis section this year. The was also the year that I managed to apply transfers to my marines and triple my Primaris Lt powa. I really do enjoy painting this army more than any other. I also completely my dream of having 23 Reivers (first spoiler). Just in time to not play 9th edition I also finally finished my Apothecary (who hasn't proven himself to be Chief yet). I also finished my Redemptor Dreadnought like a week too late to pick up another ETB as they went out of stock around the time I did finally finish painting it.
This year I also not only finished updating my Black Legion to the new models, but I also gave my army more heavy and special weapon options than they had ever had. It still has a little more work, but I have painted a lot of gold trim on power armor this year. And after years, finally re-based my Dark Venegance Chosen to 32mm where they will likely serve as Aspiring Champions of my Chaos Space Marines.
Finally, I managed to take my extra large kill team of Genestealer Cults to a technically playable 1000pt army to a technically, almost for real playable 2,000pt army this year with the introduction of the
GSC Start Collecting. The photo included is a little outdated, but I have been wanting to hold taking a newer one until I make another trip to the painting table with this army.
And that is more or less (well less, as some of what was shown was painted before this year) I have managed. I am pretty happy with both the amount and quality I did this year. What did everyone else manage to accomplish for their armies this year?
