Hey folks, I'm starting work on a small Space Marine force, its going to be Blood Angels and I'd like to do the 5th company.

But there is one thing that is making me scratch my head.

Sergeants invert their pads to be black with red rims and the company symbol is a black tear/blooddrop.

So, their company pad will be black on black.

I've been googling and no one seems to have a clear shot of a 5th company sergeant that can help me answer how best to tackle this.

I reckon its going to end up either being a white outline around the drop, or possible a red circle (akin to the black circle on the 10th to stop the red on red issue).

Anyone got a picture that can help or any suggestions of how else to tackle the issue?

I managed to find this image. Looks like the sergeant in the top right is 5th company: black shoulder pad, black drop with a white outline.

I am literally doing the same thing at the moment and my solution is to paint the sergeant’s shoulder pads a bone colour. Dante can take it up with me if he’s not happy but it’s what I’m going with.
