Greetings!

Lately I got the urge to get back into 40K after a long hiatus. I used to play back mostly in fourth edition and stopped sometime during fifth edition and have long since sold off my collection. I played Chaos Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Chaos Daemons, and a small handful of loyalist Space Marines. Currently, I'm mainly interested in just getting back into the painting and modelling aspect of the hobby because I can do that at my own pace without the need to organize time to play with others (life is pretty busy at the moment).

That being said, instead of just picking up model kits I think would be fun to assemble and paint, I would like to systematically assemble an army that I could play with in the future. I took advantage of the free trial of the 40K app to read through the concise version of the rules and the information from the codexes that is available. The rules have certainly changed a lot. I had in mind choosing an army that can lay down a staggering number of flamer templates because I enjoyed doing that a dozen or so years ago, but now templates don't even exist. Not to mention changes to close combat, vehicles, armor penetration, etc. It will take some getting used to once I actually start playing, but it seems like most of the changes are simply intended to streamline play and speed it up some.

I have tentatively decided to start collecting Adepta Sororitas because I like the aesthetic and the units seem to have interesting and powerful abilities. What is a good point level to start brewing lists for? I remember 1500 points used to be considered the standard list size that people would most often play at (at least in my area). Is this still the case? Or do people use this new power rating metric?

I'm currently on a long international trip but I can't wait to get started painting again when I return in a few months. In the meantime, I look forward to browsing the forum for painting and modelling tips, army list tips, and more.

Hi,

Welcome to Dakka
