I just was looking up cheap models, and found a website called Dark Miniatures, which is odd, because all the prices seem, OFF. Fully assembled Ares Gunship is 170USD, fully Assembled Astartes Characters are around 8USD. Is this all 3d printed repro, or some wierd 3rd party thing, or a fake scam. I mean if I can get a full army for that cheap I may never buy GW again. 3 Vertus Praetors are 22USD.

I would post a link to the site but I think if it's not legit it would violate the rules, but if you just look up dark miniatures you should find it!

Thanks for any advice or help!

it means they bought original models, made molds out of them and are selling casts of these molds. Quality varies wildly depending on the source and the morality of these websites is grey at best.

So maybe just start out with something cheap to get a feel for it before dropping a cool 200 on them? I say the Ares and thought I'd hit a hackpot.

I believe you mentioned in another thread that your local GW would have a problem with 3d printing.
I'm sure they'd have a problem with recasting as well. Although if you don't tell them it's a recast they may not be able to tell.

The legality is iffy at best, the morality is clear. There's no ethical consumption under capitalism so why should the consumers behave ethically towards corporations and their interests?

That is exactly why I was asking. If it was legit I wouldn't have to lie. But this is again, a grey area. If I have to ask though, I still would say that it would be lying to say I bought an Ares. But I did buy 4 boxes of bikes, so I have no problem saying I molded my own green stuff bikes.

The person who runs the store I play at sells GW models, and orders FW kits is a friend. I would be lying to him, the lowest monkey on the corporate totem pole, and a personal friend, if I cheapen a model over or around him.

Thats how I view it at least, and while I may be wrong, I should at least ask him what he thinks about it.

On moon miranda.

Hey all, in accordance with DakkaDakka's policy on recasting, I'm going to end this particular discussion here now that the recaster status of the site in question has been clarified. If anyone has any questions, feel free to PM me.

IRON WITHIN, IRON WITHOUT.

New Heavy Gear Log! Also...Grey Knights!
The correct pronunciation is Imperial Guard and Stormtroopers, "Astra Militarum" and "Tempestus Scions" are something you'll find at Hogwarts.
