Here is the most competitive list I can come up with for the Death Guard codex. The list of course has Mortarian because it seems the whole codex was balanced off of him. I have tried not using him and was annihilated both games. He keeps it close and gives my army time to “slowly” shamble up the table to get charges off. Feedback is welcomed.

Hello there. I don't have the codex in hand yet but I don't think you can take poxwalkers now without taking plague marines as well.

That may make things much different in your list with the additional points cost.

The terminators each unlock a Poxwalker squad, he's good!

The list looks like a good mix of durability and utility. I like the inclusion of the Plagueburst Crawlers and Blight Drones. Be careful of losing one terminator per squad and exposing your characters though.

Yea I have been ensuring my characters are behind a wall of Poxwalkers which have cloud of flies. Then they can’t be targeted easily.

Hardest part is getting those deathshroud into combat. Sigh so slow =<

Seems a lot of people picking up Deathshroud. What do you think of Blightlord termis in this codex? Have Deathshroud got them totally covered? I was thinking of having 10 Blightlord terminators with bare minimum wargear in my list.

You really need some way of deep striking more units into the opponents front line, or at least within reasonable fire support range. Though it's good that you chose The Inexorable as your plague company. As the extra AP now counts towards everything at this point, which is a plus.

It sucks that Mortarion is considered a must. I've seen more than a few armies run Typhus with a dedicated assault line, and he's torn some nice big holes into enemy formations.

Blightlords are not great in combat since they have only 3 attacks at STR 6. However you get 4 STR 7 attacks or 8 STR 5 attacks with Deathshroud. They just do more damage in combat. I will admit that you can really do a surprisingly amount of damage with massed combi bolters. It is pretty easy to wipe a 20 mans squad of Necron warriors.

I hate trying to charge from deep striking. Very hard to get 9”
