Hi all, I’m looking to start an Imperial knight army with a custom house. As I have a custom SM Chapter I was wondering if the Imperial Knights house could share the same Homeworld and be joined to the chapter???

Many thanks

This seems more of a fluff based question that should probably be in the background section.

However to answer the question as I understand it, based primarily on having consumed as much knight's background as I can get my hands on.

Ahort version no a knight world as a chapter's homeworld simply wouldn't be allowed.

Depending upon your household being Imperial or Mechnicus aligned would vary the ways you would link the two.

Imperial houses would probably be the easiest to fluff into working with some marines.

Mechanics houses tend to be aligned to a forge world which makes the direct link to a chapter more problomatic.

Not to mention that most knight worlds historically pre-date the Imperium and harken back to the dark age of technology or in some cases back to the golden age.

You can also have errands household, fo example based on a fleet, expunged by their planet and such.

The IK mobile game started a lone Knight fighting with Dark Angels after the call of his Household.

I can't condone a place where abusers and abused are threated the same: it's destined to doom, so there is no reason to participate in it.

Like it was mentioned earlier, most knightly houses have worlds of their own that have existed before the Imperium, so it would be unlikely that they would share a world with a Space Marine chapter.

But since it is your own fluff and background you could do anything you want. I can think of two options that make sense in my head.

The first would be that your chapter has fought alongside several Free Blade Knights (basically Knights who no longer belong to a house), and they have offered the Free Blades sanctuary on the chapter homeworld in exchange for those Free Blades answering that chapter's calls for aid should they ever need it.

The second could be a scenario where the knight world was devastated by a xenos or chaos attack which left most their knights and defenses destroyed. The nobles there may have invited a new chapter to take up their knight world as the chapter homeworld to boost their defenses while they rebuild their knights and re-establish the noble line.

I've been looking at something similar myself. For me I've gone more on the line of the knights being honour bound to the chapter due to the Chapters lineage.

My barebones narrative is that the Knight world had spent centuries at war with the Orks until the Salamanders Legion made its way to the region and together purged the surrounding systems.

When my Chapter was founded their home world was within the same sub sector and they renewed the oaths sworn by their parent chapter from centuries past.
