Hi all!

Due to a combination of space, army, money, COVID, and physical limitations, I'm sticking with playing Incursion (and Combat Patrol) games pretty much indefinitely.

I'm planning one building a knock down table for my games, so I can leave things out, and play over time (roommate and I have very different schedules, so we play one turn at a time, rolling any saves needed, etc, and do pics of the board and descriptions of events on Discord to track things), but still put things away when we need the space.

I've seen that the GT pack has Incursion as a tournament standard along side Strike Force, is there an active Incursion "Circuit" (for lack of a better term), and if so, how different is the game at 1,000 points? Does the 2 detachments, max 2 of each Datasheet (non troop/dedicated transport) make a huge difference?

My armies are Necrons (3rd ed collection), and Kroot (yes, Kroot), assuming Legends units are valid.

I have mostly played incursion during the lockdowns, as a pair of a speed freeks boards have the right size and they fit on my dining table.

The biggest difference really is the smaller table (do not play incursion on 6x4) and the slightly different missions, other limitations rarely make a huge difference.
More units tend to be better than expensive units, and a lot less CP usually mean that you don't want to spend them on detachments.

After we got some experience, the games tends to be mostly infantry with a tank/dread or two. In general it feels surprisingly well balanced despite the low point costs.
Look and feel is somewhere between 2k and killteam, with the armies looking a lot like what would have been considered a big armies in the beginnings of 40k.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

I haven't been keeping up with 9E - what is Incursion, if you don't mind me asking?

It never ends well

Essentially GW split the game in to four game sizes - combat patrol, incursion, strike force and onslaught.

Combat patrol is played at 500 points and your army must fit in a single patrol detachment.
Incursion is 1000 points, strike force is 2000 points onslaught is 3000 points. Each size has it own missions, starting CP and recommended table size, and many rules like maximum number of detachments, stratagems and other things scale depending on these sizes now.
