I’ve got a little T’au force I put together and I wanted to run a unit of gue’vesa with them. Obviously until a new T’au codex comes out we have to just do a “counts as” for the human adherents to the greater good. What do you recommend the Gue’vesa count as?
I figured I would just go with Breachers, but humans are a bit more fight-y than T’au, so I thought maybe a Kroot squad would fit better, however some of the special rules for the carnivore squad don’t really fit humans.
So, what data sheet do you think fits Gue’vesa better, breachers, fire warriors, or carnivores?

Fire Warriors. If you're feeling spicy, go full ham and convert up some vehicles too. Grav Rhinos as Devilfish, up-gunned Sentinels moonlighting as Broadsides, skimmer up some Achilles Ridgerunners as Piranhas, the sky's the limit.

If you've gone full Tau equipped Guardsman with pulse weapons and heavier armour - Firewarriors or Pathfinders would be best.

If you're playing in a more casual setting, your opponent may let you take an IG detachment as allies.

Dead Sky Black Sun actually has a Gue'Vesa as one of its characters. He was always lamenting the fact that the Tau wouldn't let the humans get "stuck in proper", so I would say Kroot probably works, and just ignore/don't use the rules that don't make sense, or go with Fire Warriors. Some cool modeling options either way.

I'm really hoping the new Tau dex has them as an option!

Edit: I just googled ablutions and apparently it does not including dropping a duece. I should have looked it up early sorry for any confusion. - Baldsmug

Wait, what were we talking about again? Did I ever tell you about the time I gave you five bees for a quarter? That's what you'd say in those days, "give me five bees for a quarter", is what you'd say in those days. And you'd go down to the D&D shop, with an onion in your belt, 'cause that was the style of the time. So there I was in the D&D shop..."

Which human models are you using?

Catachans might make for better Kroot, Cadians as better Fire Warriors.

Though I think the best bet would be allied IG.

I'd say Fire Warriors, if you're going for Gue'Vesa wearing combat armour and carrying pulse weapons. Hell, you could just have mixed squads, or even have Gue'Vesa Pathfinders. Basically, any Tau infantry unit. I would personally stick away from Kroot, I think their save is a little too low and movement too high. Unless you were going for Catachan-like Gue'Vesa, I wouldn't do Kroot.

If you're going for "recoloured Guardsmen", ask your opponent if you can take a Guard detachment and add that to your army.

IG detachment.

The original background had the Tau allowing the Gue'Vesa to manufacture Imperial lasguns as their weapons while Tau pulse weapons were limited issue to sergeants and officers. That way the Tau maintained a military edge and kept their best goodies out of the reach of potentially unreliable humans.

Pathfinders, Tau don't give humans good armour or guns, period, so 5+ save and worse guns fit (as well as being deployed in front to act as meat shields). Could even mark sergeant by them being only model with Tau helmet and hexagonal pad. You can even fluff the drone as not helping the squad, but watching for any signs of rebellion to gun down the offenders

This was what I was thinking, though Scions would be better as Breachers or Strikers and the Cadians as Pathfinders.

Are you a Wolf, a Sheep, or a Hound?

I’m using the Eisenkern Stormtroopers from Wargames Atlantic

I think you guys have convinced me to go with pathfinders for them. I appreciate all of the responses.

Neat models, but they look much more like a Strike Squad equivalent (M 6, Sv 4+) than a Pathfinder equivalent (M 7, Sv 5+). But that is the problem with Gue'vesa counts as. You have three imperfect units to choose from (also Kroot at M 7, WS 3+, Sv 6+).

IIRC Fire Caste features a unit of Gue'vesa Pathfinders with standard unit equipment.
