Not sure if this should go in painting and modeling but whatever.

I went to paint a model, dipped the brush in the paint and it didn't really go on the smoothest. A part of the brush uh brushed another part of the model and there were flecks of dust coming off. Sure enough I flick a couple tips under my light and lots of particulates fly off the tips! I did try washing my brushes last week to help maintain their life so maybe some soap dried in the brushes?

So I painted a techmarine, washed my brushes in soapy water, rinsed, let dry for more 4 ish days, then painted up an impulsor with no problems with the brushes or paint.

Is this normal and I'm just crazy? Or did I not do a proper job of cleaning my brushes?

Before painting, I always swish the brush in clean water. I do it to make sure the brush tip is clean, flexible, and to a point. Not sure if this would correct for dust, but I imagine it could. For the detail brushes not relegated to drybrush, glue spreading, and other non careful painting details, I keep the brush protective casing over them when not in use. Hope this helps.

No earth shattering, thought provoking quote. I'm just someone who was introduced to 40K in the late 80's and it's become a lifelong hobby.

Should be easy enough to clean before hand each time you get ready to use. Ether water or a cleaning agent of some kind.

But is the area particularly dusty? I live in a dusty environment and have not really ever had this issue.

Other thoughts could be if the paint isnt mixed well enough and possible getting little clumps of pigment drying. Is your paint drying in the brush, maybe worth getting a wet pallet if that is a issue.
Pigment powders also could be a issue if you use them, but they should be fine in paint and not really cause visible issue if you are cleaning your brushes.

Having super-glued models dry in a closed box can also cause fine dust to appear on everything else in that box.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.
