Experienced AD&D player (miniatures and old school) looking for a new "adventure". Thought I was going to play Flames of War but the group I was planning to play with stopped playing. Now looking at Warhammer 40K as it seems to be a pretty decent place for an old (over 55) person like myself to pass the time and enjoy himself. Currently playing STWOR, World of Tanks, and World of Warships on the computer with five of the Wizards of the Coast boxed sets gathering dust in the closet along with the FoW kits I had bought. Looking for advice, good and bad, on getting started with Warhammer 40K. I have my "big boy pants" on so fire away. Thanks ahead of time and enjoy your day!

Welcome to Dakka? Where in NY are you? I went to school in Binghamton and I know there's a whole lot of Central New York State out there.
A lot lot.
Anyway you might want to start with the Painting and modeling forum, or do a blog there, it's a good place for feedback, positive or helpful.

Nedrow, just to the south of Syracuse. Been looking over the forums and asking questions on other social media. Good advice so far across the board, appreciate it.
